German article says it cost 750,000 Swiss Franken: ~854,000 $US.

They produce 5 of these per year.

I'd be too scared to wear it, IWC does make some nice watches though!

Don't know, but the prices are in the four - and I seem to recall: also five - digit range.

The guy said that when he had finished learning the art of making watches, he was bored with the Swiss conventional designs, and so he started with what he is designing now. He was 22 years then.

That's like two or three digits more than i'd want to pay for a watch. :DL

I tend to be a bit rough on them.

Watches of that price range hardly are meant to be worn, they are an investment, or a billionaire's collecting hobby. That's why that watch described is delivered in a case with in-build auto-winder.

Personally I have a quite classically designed watch that costed back then 170 Euros, which imo already is far too much for just a watch. I only bought it several years ago because of the looks, I loved it, dark blue and gold and golden-shimmering grey titanium. But all watches I owned before were of the extremely cheap lowest price segment, since to me they are just a tool with an inbuild automatism (I do not see them as measuring devices, because they measure nothing). If you can get that for 10 Euros, then why spending 500?

I like Swiss movements, manual or automatics and these are generally very expensive, my Junkers is around $400, I have been looking at buying another soon, I would like either a Steinhart or Uhren von UHR, the latter is fairly new on the scene and I am very impressed with the watches and their prices: http://www.uhr.info/
This is the one I would like:
