Right now it is gulping the Bahamas. It looks to me the eye of the storm will be offshore right up the coast. The heaviest winds will stay on the east side of the eye. However, a lot of water is being pushed in front of the storm. The surge will affect the coastline to some extent. The Chesapeake Bay will probably have issues with the surge being pushed up a ever closing bay as it proceeds northward. This has happened before with hurricane Isabel that came up the mouth of the Chesapeake. I suspect a lot of rainfall along the coast. I believe the storm is 800 miles in diameter.

I have read the term 'depopulation', especially in connection with FEMA only on conspiracy sites yet.
Bringing people out of a dangerous area into safety is called evacuation. However it is impossible to evac such a large and densely populated area like the one where the storm is heading.

Not true! The coastal towns have evacuation plans and routes. These are used effectively. However, some people do not leave and often get into trouble or die. Most just need to get inland 10 or so miles. Much safer then sitting on the beach! This is no fault of FEMA's that some folks do not evacuate. And, FEMA is not the first responders. Local government is. Once the state is declared a disaster area by the President is FEMA activated to assist. The theory is way off the mark. :03: The depopulation is at the hands of those that do not heed the warnings to evacuate.

Last I heard she was on the rebound and looking to head back out to sea. Which means we'll get the remnants in about a weeks time.

Yes, she is slowly being pushed by the jet stream that runs west to east across the US. Everyday her path puts further out to sea. That's fine by me. When we are really in the thick of the relief efforts I do countless days/nights with little to no sleep.

I did see a program (briefly) were a chemical was released into a cloud and rain was generated. I think it is possible to engineer (chemically) a storm.
