I sometimes wonder if this forum is a waste of good time.
Then I think of all the 'Real World' things/people I deal with.

I find that the most annoying poster here is still far better educated,
and informed, and honest, then those I see face to face each day!

I've tried to just let SubSim go but I admit I can not because of it's
quality of Members.
:salute:

Even the ones I don't really like much?
I still respect thier input and have actually learned from them.
(I'll NEVER admit what Arses I mean!)
:haha:

Jimbuna, Tarjak and Vendor all posting in this thread, and not one joke about a sausage fest. I don't know who you all are anymore

:har: great! I think about using this as a rank description - not sure if I take the first or second :DL

And the German obsession with Bratwurst is true. Although my Frau an me are vegetarians we eat at least once a week our (fake meat) Bratwurst.

Madox58 08-22-11 04:30 PM

There's alot of German heritage here abouts.
So We ended up with the Bratwurst festival where others have Pumkin' festivals, Ice Cream festivals, and so on and so forth.

There's the sometimes heard stories that the U.S. Government was a bit worried about this area during WWII.
Seems we had several Military Camps nearby (The Fair Grounds was one)
and a P.O.W. Camp for Germans just about 20 miles away.

The P.O.W.'s I've been told, worked local Farms and at a Military Depot!
You can still drive by the remains of many of the old Barracks they were housed in.
They are used by the farmers now as storage buildings or are in a very sad state of repair.

Funny, some ancestors of me also settled around the Great lakes in the 19th century. In fact these are still the states where you find my family name the most, guess not many moved away ;)

But I also was once in the middle of nowhere, GA, where I visited a german village, was fun, 110% cliché :D but it is common that many people confuse German with Bavarian :O:

Well I thought mentioning Jeff's penchant for playing hide the sausage might come across as a bit obvious. Silly me.

Madox58 08-22-11 05:29 PM

And I figured there's enuff postings of photos that 'suggest' hide the sausage that none of us would need to do anything more.
