Another thing to try is turn particles down as low as possible/off in the in-game menu, as they're extremely system intensive (at least on my machine) :salute:

So with game reinstall now getting 34 with shadows on and 32 with shadows off

I have heard the human eye cannot really see much above 30 fps anyway, and my experience has been this. If my games stay at a steady rate, it is easier to deal with low fps than (like 20s or so) than it is to deal with fluctuating frame rates. At least for me that is the case.

I would more use the processing power to attain and maintain 30 fps, and have the rest of the power to pre render, or do some other computation.
