I like them! Especially the New Orleans, which is one of my favorite cruiser classes. Will the ships have pennant numbers?

Glad you like em`. I have always thought that the Pensacolas, Northamptons, Portlands and New Orleans class cruisers are one of the most beautiful warships ever made. I won`t include pennant numbers as it means I have to make seven individual ships. Subclasses are also missing. Some had minor differances in witch version of the turrets thay had and some small changes to the bridge.

karle is there a way to get the H-44 to play on the american side without om installed?

Is that too much work?

The only reason you need OM is because of the campaign and the crew.

You are too kind :). Technicly I`m not a man yet. I still have to wait, half a year.

I understand.

It's pretty funny how the ships we like weren't necessarily very good military vessels. The Pensacolas, New Orleanses & the rest had a mediocre combat record, especially in the battles off Guadalcanal:

-The American 8" gun had a low rate of fire, and could not track small, fast targets like Japanese destroyers

-American cruisers usually had no torpedoes, unlike the Japanese CA's with lots of deadly "long lance" torps

-Armor was mostly poor, except with some of the later designs

-The AVGAS storage tanks in the hangars were a tremendous fire hazard, even though carrier aviation by the 1940's made seaplanes unnecessary.

-Until the Battle of Savo Island, cruisers were full of wooden furniture. Not what you want when Japanese shells start massive fires.

Oh well, they were definitely pretty to look at, especially before their late war modifications around 1943! :)

Still, two of the New Orleans took some extreme damage without sinking, a testimony to their design.

Hi Karle,

With some changes i got the H-44 working for a US Career however i have 3 questions if you don't mind

- I have no crew, i can add them manually but not in singleplayer
- The main turrets are black which file do i need from om?
edit: installed OM and turrets remain black
- Can i change the flag at the back of the ship?

Thanks

You need to take the crew files from American subs.
I am working on it myself.
Yes you can. As long as you have the flag you want to change to.

Usually i can get stuff like the black turret to work but not this time, i'm not sure why it's black it should have a texture.

Karle i am making progress in fixing the black turrets
i hope the following information can help

when you open guns_H_44.dat and remove the option enable explicit texture you no longer get a black turret but a messed up texture that looks like one of the dds files in the library folder.

I hope this helps a little.

I believe that the messed up texture thingy is a result of the occlusion map. I have done changes to the turret and the occlusion map doesn`t fit anymore.

Marka Ragnos 08-30-11 02:03 PM

Can you fix it?
I sure hope you do :)

Marka Ragnos 09-02-11 11:03 AM

Well I finally found a solution to the turret problem and also changed the flag :)
