I started out with message mods and there's a fairly easy solution to this one. If you change the end dates in the existing messages_en file it will mean that you can receive the message at the start of every patrol. That means that you can get:
Defensive action against French Shipping sent from 3/9/1939 to 24/9/1939 Passenger shipping is now an eligible target sent from 4/9/1939 to 24/9/1939 Small passenger ships are eligiblefrom 24/9/1939 to 27/10/1939 etc. It also means that a quick press of the 'M' key will give you instant access to the relevant rules, and if the mod is created in a SH3 Commander format it will be compatible with all mods/supermods. I reckon it'll take a couple of hours if anyone's interested... |

Great idea! We are already toying with it. We have two possible ideas that we are messing around with. :hmmm: 1. Making it SH3 Cmdr compatible with a set of orders at the beginning of each patrol that is updated throughout the patrol by radio supplementals. 2. Making another draggable item that is similar to the map/mines sheet that you have in the upper left hand corner of various mods out there. It would be one (maybe two) sheets that you can drag out that would have all the info on it in a readable format. Thanx for the advice! In the meantime, does anyone have a reference for me for those entries that I have posted above. I would really like to get a reference so that I can confirm all the information on the map posted by HW3. If I can confirm all of that stuff, I could move forward. :06: Thanx in advance! |
I'm more than happy to contribute to your project if you'd like me to. I already have the base files in a format that will allow me to search and make adjustments, plus it's in chronological order so it's an easy task to make the end date of the preceeding message the same as the transmission date of the next message that supersedes it.
I've also got the messages in French and German so I can adjust in one language and read the changes across to the other two. |

Right now andqui is going through the last of the u-boat KTB's. Once that is done and he has properly condensed it, we'll probably decide where we want to go from there in terms of how we want to convey the info. When we get there, it will be a lot easier to determine how your message ideas will fit in. Thanx for the help, and once we get to having all the info together, we'll start taking a look at all our ideas. |
