Like most Q4 releases usually are :nope:

kiwi_2005 07-06-11 09:10 AM

Definitely Skyrim, my jaw drops every time I watch the same video of youtube.

BF 3

Guildwars 2 (no confirmed date, im hoping end of this year)

Diablo 3 - was excited about this @ first but as the months drag on im losing interest. The game play is getting old as the months pass by - top down hack n slash, still its Diablo and I will probably get it cause of that.

ajrimmer42 07-06-11 03:21 PM

not greatly bothered about Skyrim, didn't really get into the TES games, despite trying quite hard :hmmm:

For me AC Rev and BF3, but you forgot Uncharted 3!!! :stare:

Dowly 07-06-11 03:42 PM

Are people really that thrilled about BF3? :hmmm:

Someone sell me BF3, what's so good about it (I haven't seen but one video
of it and it looked very COD-ish, compared to BF2).

Good question. :hmmm: BF:BC2 was recommended to me and I love it - like most games, I'm shtt at it, but I really enjoy it. Never played COD, but just seems to me like little boys running around shooting anything they can and bitching about everything they can - did consider Black Ops but then heard the reviews and the fact it had zombies!!! Got Arma II but just don't play it, didn't enjoy it as much as BC2 - never tried multiplayer though! I don't see the attraction of TES but it takes all sorts to make a gaming industry. Let us be as happy with the prospect of a game we like as we are that you like TES. :yep:

No, no, no. I didn't mean it in a downgrading way or anything like that.
I'm just curious, why people are fuzzing about BF3, when BFBC2 already
showed signs of it going towards being COD copy at full speed?

Don't get me wrong, I own BFBC2 and like(d) it. BUT, it's much more fast
paced than BF2 was. For example, the thing I love about these online shooters,
sniping, is very difficult in BFBC2 if you want to go with no deaths round like
I did in BF2. The maps are way too small and sniper being a weapon of the
recon class, everyone yells at you for not going to the frontlines and using
your motion sensor thingamalings to "help your team".

BF is becoming too fast paced. But like I said, I have only seen one video
of BF3, so, is there something more to it that urban combat?

BF2 always sat inbetween of COD and games like ARMA and WWIIOL, as
semi-casual/tactical shooter.

I don't care what you put - I just look at your sig and smile. :yeah:

It may go down the COD route - I wouldn't know what that's like, so I'll just enjoy the ride. :D And the maps are small in BC2 compared to BF2 (I got it but only played a short while... maps were too big :rotfl2: )

I notice nobody seems to be looking forward to MW3. ;)

Very small maps, close to no recoil in weapons, the ability to jump off a roof, spin 360 and shoot someone using no scope with a sniper rifle (no joking).

That's COD MW currently. :nope:

If you ever played Quake 3 MP, that's it, insanely fast paced, except Q3 was
fun. :O:

For me its cause its Battlefield & the close friendships Ive made with BF2 players. Its going to be hilarious if the same players move from BF2 to BF3 so far we all agreed to get BF3 to take control and pwnage
& scream orders at each other. If the game turns out crap then its back to BF2, sometimes BFBC2 though BF2 is where our hearts belong.

I knew someone would say something like that, which, imho, is the plague of
game industry nowadays: title sells. Especially online FPS' have become "own
this or your not cool" products. And then everyone copies the product that makes
the most money.

It's your money, tho. So, no harm to me, but can you tell me WHY it is worth
buying? Purely from a gamer's perspective?:hmmm:

Why does anyone play solitaire on their PC?

We don't know. It may bomb and be the laughing stock of the online FPS world. It may be hailed as the greatest game ever. In some reviews it'll probably be both. Just like TES may be. Trailers and Demos are all very well but rarely show real gameplay footage, and what actual footage is show may be doctored in some way or on a billion supercomputers networked. The best way is to play it, the second best is word of mouth.

Word of mouth works for me. Frozen Synapse - tbh looks crap, like an early '90s reject game (as in the game was rejected, not a game for '90s rejects!), but you and Arclight, and then seaniam81 pitched in on it's side and it is a great game, very addictive, but on trailer alone I wouldn't have got it. (Thanks seaniam81 :yeah: )

I don't intend on owning BF3 to be cool - I never got caught up in the Black Ops malarky, although I did make a tidy profit from getting an xbox and a ps3 version on voucher offer to sell on to some mugs :yep: . We don't all buy an online FPS for the same reasons. I just want to be able to log in for anywhere from 10 mins to 3+ hours and just have some fun. Somebody else will want to set up a tight-knit clan and give their server a n00b title so they can slaughter all noobs and rise through the ranks quickly.

I just want some fun :wah:

Arclight 07-06-11 08:09 PM

Thing to note on BF3 is that its specific purpose is to beat CoD. I'm not sure if they plan on a copy that is just slightly prettier (turns out it doesn't look so hot at all on consoles) or a game that is truly "better". :hmmm:

2011 has been a great year already, but I'm still looking forward to Red Orchestra 2, Sword of the Stars 2, Deus Ex, Tropico 4, Men of War - Vietnam, Sengoku, Arkham City and obviously Skyrim. Think Dead Island deserves a mention as well.

Then next year Metro: Last Light, Prey 2, Mass Effect 3, X Rebirth, Crusader Kings II and Naval War Arctic Circle, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Tomb Raider.

Oh right, and there's several lovely indie projects going on. *cough*

Good thing I didn't need to upgrade anything this year. Gonna need the cash. :D

Falkirion 07-06-11 08:29 PM

For me its going to be Batman AC, that's the one release out of all of them that I'm looking forward to the most. I'll grab AC Rev, and Diablo 3 if its out and as a longshot Star Wars TOR. Skyrim holds no interest for me, never managed to find the Elder scrolls series appealing.
