Nah stuff like freedom fries and surrender monkeys is usually a tit for tat response. Most of my fellow Americans couldn't tell you who the French President is (or any other foreign potentate for that matter) so unless he says something about us that makes our media we'll probably not even notice.

I don't mean that as an insult, it's just that things like that have little meaning to our lives any more than the name of the governor of Massachusetts (Deval Patrick) is useful information for you to know.

I find it harsh to draw a comparison between Napoléon & Sarkozy. Napoléon didn't have a Rolex watch, after all, nor did he multiply the president's monthly salary by 2 as he rose to power ! :stare:

:haha:

LOL :D

Back to the story, I also find it very suspicious.

Head of the IMF, filthy rich, leading candidate for the presidency of France...

...and he decides to rape a chambermaid on the spur of the moment as he is on his way out to catch a plane?

Give me a break.

Politics is a rough business in france.

He's a powerful man who had a lot of money and friends. HE will get a slap on the wrist and let go. You will see. :nope:

And in steps Gordon Brown...What a nightmare that would be. :damn:

joea 05-18-11 03:54 PM

Funny all of you have your minds made up...either he is guilty or innocent before the trial even starts. Almost as funny as some in the French media complaining about his treatment - my gosh you mean all equal before the law?? :shifty:

Jimbuna 05-18-11 05:36 PM

Wasn't aware I'de made a judgement call either way :hmmm:

It's rather amusing when you read some of the comments from his defenders whom claim he is being targeted because he is prominent and wealthy when it just may be that his prominence and wealth may have shielded him from responsibility for his alleged prior indiscretions. As time goes on, it appears more and more he had a definite pattern and habit of such behavior and more than once other persons tried to raise a flag of alarm and warn about possible repercussions resulting from his actions. It is not unlike the pedophile priests and the blind eye turned by the Church...

There is and old saying: "Money is the best deodorant."

I haven't made my mind up whether he's guilty or not because I don't care. I started disliking him when I read he was staying in a three grand a night hotel. :yep:

@ Jimbuna and August ok my bad, should have said SOME of you.

Point is it will be rather hard to judge this case. :-?

I disliked the guy before for other reasons.

A) Politicians I dislike by default. "Guilty" til proven innocent-like very few and even those have faults-big ones.
B) He headed the IMF which I also dislike.

No problem Joe :03:

Now that he's resigned I'm getting quite amused at the rat race developing today of those who would like to take over from him :DL
