What I got was that she wakes up and sees a new day dawning, and he wakes up and looks at her and sees a "dread Tomorrow" (as Google phrased it).

Is there room for laughter now, :-?

By meaning, she was saying "When I looked out of the window, the morning was breaking". With the changed letter and article, the meaning of the sentence the husband implied, is this: "When I looked out of the window, the morning got horrified".

Ahhh. Malapropisms. Always hilarious in the native language, but they don't travel much. I imagine a lot of the English ones fail too.

I must admit I didn't catch the humour at all but that is probably because I learnt a little Dutch and not German.

I honestly wasn't aware the Germans were well known for their humour.

Nothing personal Sky...simply an observation from an ignorant Brit :03:

Sky, like me probably, is still trying to figure out how this thread drifted from the relative merits of gun ownership to malapropisms. :hmmm:

I've been on a few forums where they use some heavy-handed moderation to keep this sort of thing from happening. It's not pleasant. If you go-off topic they prune the thread, replant the off topic part, and suddenly you're the author a new thread without realizing it.

Nothing personal Jim, but your signature is becoming quite a "repetitive"

Note: It's likely that I'm too sensitive right now, sorry!

Just hold on a minute...do you think that sig is meant as a joke and directed at you???????????????????

Well do me a favour and contact Neal because thus far he hasn't responded to my plea for help in resolving the issue.

If the above is the case then yes you are being a tad sensitive but I fully understand considering your personal circumstances and you've no need to apologise to me my friend.

According to fk and Herr Berbunch they are receiving my PM's but I am not receiving their responses.

All I can see are Visitor Messages in my Public Profile.

Edit: I should also have mentioned the fact the message is there because of my usual high volume of PM's from people asking about GWX queries and requesting of permissions and I really don't want to give anyone the impression I'm ignoring them.
