Most of my game 'flying' has been with model airplanes on the floor of the local hobby shop. Been playing the same airwar game since 1977.

Dowly 04-20-11 06:38 AM

Russia

Germany

- BF109E-4 (Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory)
- BF109G-2 (IL2 1946, well Steam botched my install for the 2nd time, so this might be off the list now)

Anybody else Play Rise Of Flight?

Herr-Berbunch 04-20-11 08:31 AM

FSX - usually just a stock 737, or if I want to die I'll take the Extra for a spin.

Wings of Prey/Luftwaffe/BoB2 I've not played enough to have a regular.

A-10C - obviously just an A-10C, I can see some longevity in this one and have just ordered Black Shark.

@Dowly - at least you've still got your X52, I'm still on my old Sidewinder :nope:

Oberon 04-20-11 09:04 AM

FSX
RAF - Spit Mk I (badly) and Mk IX
USAAF - B-17 (badly)

IL-2
Mercenary, but the 109 is a lovely aircraft to fly I must admit.

BOBII:WOV
RAF all the way, usually Hurris from 151 Squadron, dunno why but I just like RAF Manston and 151 squadron.

Over Flanders Fields Phase 2
Don't have this any more, but when I did it was RFC with the Sopwith Pup

Dangerous Waters
USN - 688i

Silent Hunter III
Deutsche Kriegsmarine - Type VII

Rilder 04-20-11 09:51 AM

Hmmm...

World of Tanks: Russian Primary (T-28 Atm, KV coming up fast!)

Silent Hunter Series: Eh Haven't been able to get back into, but usually Germany

IL-2 1946, don't play often but nothing specific.

Navyfield: British Primary (Though don't have it installed atm)

I really want to, but it has to wait until I get a new computer and a joystick.

I was "schooled" on flight sims some years back courtesy of CFS2 (which, in my view, is a far better game than it's successor, CFS3). I took some time off from flying my desk to become a (fairly decent) race sim driver and a (sub-par) sub sim skipper.

Recently, though, I picked IL-2 1946 ($15 bucks at Amazon! STEAL!), then I dusted off the Saitek X52 and went flying. I think that its one helluva sim, particularly for those gear heads among us that just have to have everything far more complex than necessary. Complex engine management is kicking my butt, but I'll figure it out eventually. The fact that it has a smart, dedicated player/modder community (like here at Subsim and NoGrip) is just icing on the cake.

So far, my #1 bird has been the P-51, but that's only because sooner or later I flat spin the dam*ed Corsair trying to knock down Zekes. (Plus, no carrier landings, at which I suck.) I'll let you know in a bout a year. :03:
