Why should it be a major letdown? If it is, it suggests the fan probably had a false assumption that the star is somehow above human flaws.

Because you are famous doesn't give you a license to do what you want in life.

Of course not, but it doesn't stop you from being human either.

So, you see, it is easy to seperate the two. Very easy.

Sorry but I think we missed the point. I was referring to the seeming inability of many people to separate the 'stars' professional work from their obvious character flaws.
I've encountered a large number of people who lose respect for certain individuals based on a new found (scandal driven) perception that they are suddenly no longer larger than life. Whereas the truth was, they never were in the first place.
Personally, I'm not disappointed in Cage because I already knew he was flawed before any of this broke.
Since I was able to appreciate the quality of his work before, I have no reason to change my opinion now (even if I happen to think he's a low-life in his private life). An easy distinction in my mind, but for a lot of people a difficult one.

With famosity comes responsibilty. Accountability. Why should we have to abide by rules and regulations but if you are famous, it's an open license.
Pah! :nope:
