The small n must not mean much, because it is no telephone poll or opinion poll being done, nor is it a assessment study for a new medical drug. In neurological, medical, psychological and psychophysiological basic research you often have even smaller samples. And depending on the quality of the sample you have, even smaller samples nevertheless can have a meaning of statistical significance concerning a general population. It really depends on the "statistische Gütekriterien" of the sample.
