I would strongly advise a politely worded PM informing him of your intentions and asking permission to use/continue his work. If he doesn't reply, assume the answer is "No". If he does reply, do not expect more then a yes or no response. |

You're saying that sometimes you get orders to ship out to Atlantic Ocean but when the game loads your patrol area is in the Indian Ocean? Or that the grid coordinates don't match? |

I am using SH4 with the U-Boat Missions upgrade (legit, no cr@ck), bought online. |
Is it a Steam version?
I found out that Steam puts crap code in the files also. You can just use the original patching Utility from here: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php |
Quote:
Run it, point it to your sh4.exe, click ok. A backup is created before patching btw. |

But I do appreciate what you're saying and I will thread lightly regardless. |

Ah cool I suppose I install this last over OM and OMEU?
And in regards to Lurker, he abandoned his work if I recall correctly. Abandon your work and you forfeit it to whom wishes to continue it. I can understand asking for permission but I wouldn't take a non response as a no. That sounds a bit childish to me. If he doesn't respond, then it means he didn't read it. Again It would seem rather stiff of Lurker not to allow someone to continue his work, his work he no longer wants apart of. I mean I don't think Captian Morgan asked permission to modify the RSRD files in order to make them compatible with the new TMO. The way I see it as long as whoever continues his work as long as they give him credit for it, there should be no problem. |
Glad to hear that people are still trying to keep this alive. I am tempted to get into a "which Silent Hunter is the best one" discussion, but all of the different SH games have their own merits. It would be great to have the best of them all in one game....gameplay, graphics, immersion.
I love the way SH4 loads and starts so quickly and runs very stable. I think that it still has too much of a Pacific feel (just look at the buildings for example). It could do with being a touch more European in the harbours and along the coast. A bit more harbour life would be good. The map department misses a few more charts like there are in both SH3 and SH5. I don't seem to have many lifeboats in the water with OM when a ship goes down. With SH3, you could almost sense the way the war was going by the atmosphere created by the radio messages. I miss that. After SH5 I feel that the SH4 u-boat is a bit limited. SH3 has open hatches and fire damage. SH5 has flooding. It would be great if these things could be modded in SH4. When I look at the mods I use with all the SH games, SH4 is the shortest mod list. That shows what a good job Lurker did. It also shows that there is room for more. Like I said, it's a great initiative you are taking. I appreciate you taking the time to improve the game:yeah:. |
I wish that the crews uniforms could be better suited to the atlantic short sleeves in winter not very real, big coats, furry hats etc.I would also like to see better u boat skins more high rez, more like tomi's v11c/40,Those few upgrades would do me fine :D

Looks pretty good. One thing that bothers me is the fact that the ropes holding the flag are stable right now. If I get around to it, I'll animate the whole thing so the ropes get a whipping effect also. Maybe even a bit of bending on the Pole? :hmmm: |
While I'm at it we should find a way to move the flags. Why are they attached to the stern of the ship. There isn't any way you can see them until the last possible second and that is incredible annoying.
