If you don't know how?
Congratulations!!
:woot:
You are not a Geek nor a Nerd!
:har:
(Those tags get you beat up or harrased!)

Find the sh3.exe file and use winzip or 7zip to pack it.
Go to www.mediafire.com and upload it.
post the link here.

That should keep you busy all nite.
:haha:

I know what you mean, i just dont know how to do it.
Im a geek But no nerd :yeah:
I try
well thats the problem I cannot find that file anywere!

FlankSpeed 02-28-11 05:12 PM

If you use windows then you can press F3 and type SH3.exe in the search box that pops up... it'll find the file for you.

edit: As frau Kaleun points out, later versions of windows probably won't initially show you the file extension, but as far as I'm aware it is the only file called sh3 in the Silent hunter 3 install directory... and you can right click properties to check it out if you need to.

frau kaleun 02-28-11 05:24 PM

The file wouldn't be hidden because of some setting in Folder Options, would it? Does Windows hide anything by default besides system and OS files?

Or maybe it's set not to show extensions for known file types so the '.exe' isn't on the filename... :hmmm:

Madox58 02-28-11 05:31 PM

Do you have a desktop shortcut?
Right click and click properties.
That will tell you where it's at.

And you Damned sure ain't no Geek!
A Geek would have it uploaded already.
Where a Nerd would argue with me about which compression software
would be better to use!
:har:

Collin Dougherty 02-28-11 05:38 PM

but thats the application itself. wouldent that just take the game away from me? :(

FlankSpeed 02-28-11 05:44 PM

I would think he mean't for you to copy it before you compress

Madox58 02-28-11 05:46 PM

OK.
One step at a time.
:nope:
You want to compress the sh3.exe to a file.
That will not remove the sh3.exe file, nor mess with it!
You upload the compressed file.
I download it and test.
Then I come back and tell you what's up.

If I was closer?
I'd slap you on the back of the head like in NCIS.
:haha:

frau kaleun 02-28-11 05:47 PM

Yes, make a copy of the file somewhere else on your hard drive, compress and upload that.

Madox58 02-28-11 05:51 PM

Don't make her whip out the Wombat!
:har:

Frontier359 02-28-11 06:03 PM

You may want to make a copy of the 'Steam-installed' SH3.exe. Applying the 4GB patch modifies that file. Without a backup, you'll be forced to reinstall the whole game if something goes wrong.

Madox58 02-28-11 06:14 PM

Nothing ever goes wrong with the patch I did.
It does one thing and one thing only.
But you need to apply it correctly.
Or it just won't do anything.

Hang around and learn the ropes, and someday maybe you'll have your very own n00b to play with. :O: :yep:

Don't worry about Privateer's little jibes. He's not only a geek and a nerd, but he's a programmer as well, so he sometimes runs out of patience with us mere mortals.

Worse, he's a biker too, so there's that mentality to deal with on top of the rest.
:rotfl2:

Oh, and he's old, too. :O:

Bakkels 03-01-11 12:00 PM

A geek nerd hell's angel programmer? One can only wonder how such a creature would look.... :rotfl2:
