Imo any political ideal falls apart when individual rights are not respected which is a fundamental prerequisite to a civilized society.

Unfortunately many of the political leaders of 21st century are in fact less civilized than many would like them to be. Political leadership should not be filled with the worst segment of character in society who will bring down every aspect of the country in the end.

The EU weapon export to Libya was 344 milion in 2009, Italy's share was 100 million, UK's 80 million.

For comparision: Russia's waepon export to Libya in 2010 was worth 1.5 billion € ...

My guess is that the civilians in Libya don't care who manufactured the weapons who are used against them. If they had the choice I'm sure they would prefer to be shot at with Super Soakers...
