Ultimate Environment Mod CTD's Fix

Hi there,
for anyone interested, I've reworked the ClimateZones.tga by astradeus. Main changes:

- slightly raised/lowered climate zones isotherms in order to make them to match toward the edges of the map;
- fixed red color values.

This fix should be 100% compatible with the latest Environment Mod version and -hopefully- definitely get rid of the "random" CTDs that some players are still experiencing, especially around Mediterranean and Red Sea. I didn't test it in game though, so, for anyone wanting to test it, here's the link:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AYTOMZP2

just drop the .tga file into data/Env/ folder of Environment Mod and let Windows to overwrite the original ClimateZones.tga file coming with the Mod. Before doing so remember to deactivate Enrironment Mod via JSGME, and to reactivate it again before running the game!

Credits to the original modders.

Hope it helps!

Hi Gap,

There seems to be very little difference between the tga you supplied and the one included with the Climate Zones ACS 5.0. The red color values are the same. And except for a few pixels on the left hand border of the tga both the RGB and alpha channels are exact matches. Can you elaborate on what you modified and how it is better than the ACS verison?

Thanks,
WV

Nice! :DL

Anyway, if you're using MO with MO Patch 2, my file shouldn't be necessary: just had a look (not a close one, though) at the new .tga map coming with it and it seems that it got corrected red values.

TDW, can you confirm it?

yes WV,
I didn't notice that fix when I posted my one. After downloading and looking at it, it seems that this mod too solved the problem...

So it seems that the ClimateZones CTD's had been oversolved by TDW, ACS and me.... next time I'll have a closer look to the forum before posting new stuff!

To be exact: as much good stuff that TDW has done, he did not solve this one, he merely adopted and incorporated ACS's work. :know:

No worries gap. Was just a bit confused for a bit...lol.

I installed the ACS mod and ran the game last night for about 4 hours using Time Compression (TC) during gameplay. No Crashes To Desktop (CTD) encountered. Keeping fingers crossed that the TC and CTD issue may be solved for me. Will let y'all know after a few more missions.

EDIT: This was with Env 5.0 enabled.

from the amount of people using MO I'd say that ACSoft's fix works
