It took me to get from 80 to 85 a day and a bit, i reckon the 84 to 85 took me the longest.

84 to 85 was very quick. 82 to 84 was slow for me. When I reached 84 I dropped the questing and just did dungeons and BG's. Got a faction change to Alliance cause BG's are instant on alliance side, where with Horde its a 15-20min wait. Plenty of Horde players faction changed over cause of this. Dungeons + BG = quick leveling. Downside is I never got to know the Cata lore as I would of liked.

I'm way under gear though, only got 4 pieces of pvp, not playing wow as much just don't have the free hours and you need plenty of free hours to always keep up. Limited to just a casual player where i pop in every now and then.

Yea, i can see that would have been quicker, dungeons and bg's.
I didn't do that, just ground it out from 84 to 85.

I don't like it too much, I guess. I don't like how the talent trees have been streamlined and the quests are now so linear it's taken a lot of the exploration aspect out of the game. At least for me.

I haven't played it in months, but my two little boys still like it.

Completely agree with you.

The 1 - 60 zones are a blast , completely revamped and loads of fun, 60 - 80 is soooooooooooooo boring now BC areas are dull, dull, dull. Northrend is stuck in the past - didn't I kill the Lich King on my main? And yet there he is popping up every other quest.

The Cata areas are the worst though, far too linear, any alt you roll has to do exactly the same quests, in exactly the same order and you have to do all of them for the rep /sigh.

I like the HC's and the fact that they are not faceroll any more, but did they have to take that long to complete? When I only get around 3 hours play time in an evening just doing one Hc takes up a good chunk of that time.

And the nerf fest is getting silly. I play a shaman and the earthquake spell has been nerfed, buffed, nerfed ad infinitum.

IMO they need to do something quick before a huge chunk of the player base quits for good.

I would just like to add that in 3 weeks time the WoW tourament starts I would also like to warn any WoW players here that dont bother entering it as I will kick all your srub asses back to kingdom come OK? :D

I was rated 2nd best Warrior on tichondrius US late last year (was) So I am very good pvp player (pve player Im just a srub).

I play a Taurean Warrior (before faction change he was a Nightelf) 3s and 2's teams arena, rated battlegrounds and any thing else that is to do with pvp like even hanging outside orgrimmar pwning all the scrubs. 2s team is really for players who want to get rating so hirer me to help them get it up (payment in gold) Yes I play arena for gold as well If you need your arena rating up.

I will be entering the WoW tournament in 3 weeks time, I will win! The 50k will be mine! :smug:... (I hope :03:) :DL

Hot dam kiwi!
I wish you all the best m8
So you still play? Have they nerfed the hc's yet?
I'm tossing up wether i should give it another crack after an extended layoff.
Miss my lvl 85 rogue. :wah:
But... my f'in internet is crap, wireless is worse than ever so i'm gonna have major problems playing. :damn:

kiwi_2005 05-11-11 02:35 AM

WoW lost 750,000 players since the new expansion came out I was one of them. I only came back to do arena and try out the tournament. Give your 85 rogue a go at the tournament runs for 8 weeks and cost me $20 USD once you enter you get 50k in gold, all the gems available and all the best gear for your character. You can enter the tournament matches later on or just dual others for fun.

Just the other day I rolled a Druid just for fun said to myself I'll only spend a couple of hours leveling him. 13 hrs later I was still playing :o The game sucks you in. So I deleted the Druid. Just running my 85 warrior in arena's is safe enough. Works out a couple times a week for 1 or 2 hrs.

Lmao at the comic strip. OH BOY I'm about to get nerdy! I've played WoW since 2005 (with a couple months break every other year or so...) So about uhmm... 200+ days of game play? It's my favorite MMORPG game, not because it's game mechanics are just SO SOLID (cough) and the system is TOTALLY FAIR (cough) but because it can captivate SO many people... including myself.
I think Cataclysm is an okay expansion, but I've been on Hiatus since January... for school. I think my favorite expansion is the Burning Crusade, but I miss the good ol vanilla days... In BC I did arenas nonstop, hardly did any end-game raids, and got several titles (but not gladiator :( my boyfriend got that multiple times)

I must say that I might play it in summer... if it wasn't for the monthly subscription I'd never de-activate the account, and just play randomly; But I think friends make the game a lot too, I probably wouldn't play very much if my boyfriend and I didn't play together or have friends to play with. I have lots and lots of screenshots though....and videos! *Sigh* I played that game so much.

I have a resto druid (I played her from 1-70 as resto, and as dream state in season 3-5 in BC), a disc priest/spriest (I played her all through WotlK) and then switched to horde and made a BE mage for raids and leveled her in Cata. Not a whole lot compared to some... But I get bored of the tiresome grind from 1-80+.
I remember so many old things...and met lots of friends.

If you ask me, that's the scary thing about it :O:

I have a few friends who are into it, including a married couple whose life totally revolves around WoW events. You could set watches by their raiding schedule. And of course because they've got such a social circle around it AND have their significant other raiding right there with them, they don't even think about giving up the game. It's like a substance addiction, but in a very large group, haha.
Scary prospect to me, anyway :dead:

Indeed. After a few years you may realize that the only "achievement" you really (no distinction between game and RL) got is only your orange legendary gear.
Blizzard has built their empire on this "sociality". I prefer to call it a false one.
They introduce more and more "social" features (e.g. take a look at Starcraft 2) just to improve the efficiency of sucking your money. I don't blame them. Business is business after all. It's about this unanswerable question: whether the product is adjusted to the masses or the masses to the product.
I know many people who have downed Lich king several times and go for a raid for only one reason:"pve is boring as hell but we have Mumble and we gonna have a little chit-chat". In that case the primary function of the game is kinda dead.
I've never played WoW for its "social" functions. My ignore list is longer than the friends' one. I play for pure competition, so pvp only.

and I can't believe how easy it is now to level, the questing is now hold your hand stuff. I started out with WoW just before BC came out and I remeber it taking me ages to level up, saving gold to get my first mount, getting lost, getting ganked and getting teabagged...:DL

Platapus 05-26-11 05:19 PM

I am taking a break from WoW in order to concentrate on my paper.

But when that is done, I am looking forward to leaving my high toons alone and starting a level 1. Been so long since I played the lower levels and Cata seems to have improved them.

Wow is a fun game, but it can eat a lot of time. :yep:

Feuer Frei! 06-29-11 09:26 AM

The Rumours that have been circulating for a while now have been realised:
WOW is now free to play until level 20! That's right kids.
Blizz has done away with the 14-day trial period and given a free, no need to pay reign to you, until level 20.
Some other restrictions apply, a Gold cap of 10 G, a trade skill cap of 100 and also unable to trade via player to player, mail box and the AH.

SOURCE

The start of the end of WOW, Titan and Diablo 3 will be the future for Blizz.
WOW won't die but support will be scaled back, slowly.

kiwi_2005 06-30-11 08:10 PM

^ If your a veteran player its free to play to 70. Meaning if the veteran player recruits someone that recruit gets WoW & BC expansion for free & can level to 70.
