Next time your WO says "Ship Spotted" tick RO icon and tick, middle option, "Contact Report" and you'll see nothing happens.

I read in an old post that, the WO has to say "Ship Spotted" 3 times then, you hit "Contact Report" and it might work.

And then you'll have a record of it like in my screenshot.

the situation as i understand it to be:

The radioman has two options that you can choose

1. Send Patrol Report

2. Send Contact Report

PATROL REPORT - is telling BDU how many ships you have sunk.

CONTACT REPORT - is reporting that you see / have visual contact with a ship, or a group of ships.

two totally different things.

the contact report as i understand it, in the original release did nothing.

i think GWX fixed that... you should receive a radio message within a couple of in game hours stating "All other assets otherwise occupied, do not wait for assistance, initiate attack." or something to that effect.

HOWEVER

the send contact report button on the clip board appears to only work when there is a convoy being reported NOT single ships or groups of 2 or 3 ships.

HOWEVER PART DEUX

you can select the radioman and send a contact through him for ANY ship you wish to report no matter how great or how few the number of ships

Contact reports work on groups (Convoys and Task Forces), not individual ships, as GR mentions.

I gave up long ago trying to send CR's for individual ships, as nothing gets sent. But on first contact with a Convoy, I'll send one, and within a bit, I'll get a hopeless reply from BDU.

I spent a many career trying to figure that out. Well, 3 actually.

And I play at 99% realism. And I always will, regardless of the settings.

A purely hypothetical question, the vessels may spontaneously on the horizon, which may be perceived as more, and then you have played all day, so "maybe your 'eyes are cloudy saltwater resulting in limited field of vision, but I have been successful to get all contact report, even when only a few ships have disturbed my sleep in the bed of the crew, :cool:
