I think you are missing the point, lone-naysayer. When we run out of wombats we can always switch to wolverines. What is important here is not the protection of the animal-weapons, or even the elimination of trolls. What is important is the fun to be had from actually engaging in this activity. If Frau's party is put into power, she will legalize this practice, so we can smack trolls with impunity.

Is that not a goal worth striving for?

Beating trolls is both an honourable and valued service however, some believe that the world is already past peak Wombat and a global shortage is only a matter of time. Wolverines are none to common either although some research indicates that they are far more effective for beating trolls than are Wombats and have a very favourable service life as troll-smackers. Surely the elimination of trolls might might be desirable even if not on the current agenda?

Perhaps a compromise troll beater, say replacing Wombats with Louisviille Slugger Ballbats?

The symbolism of beating trolls with Wombats is deep, profound and not to be trifled with but in practice, few things compare with good old-fashoned hardwood.
