Most immediatly disruption of communication on a global scale. Its all down hill from there.

Krauter 12-08-10 03:05 PM

What do you think?

Considering the size of the Earth compared to that of the Sun I would say there'd be a puff of smoke and this solar system would be a lot quieter.

However, the likelihood of that happening is close to 0. Considering the largest sunspots take around 4-6 days to reach us, that translates to a lot of distance.

It is not the actual sunspot that is damaging, but rather the radiation and the particles it releases.

Thanks for the links Oberon.

Growler 12-08-10 03:14 PM

Clearly, the sun needs to work on its deflection shooting skills. I mean, really.

Missed it by that much.

Don'T cry, there is still a second chance when in 2029 99942-Apophis maybe will impact on Earth during its second rendezvous with the blue planet, with a power of more than 500 megatons of TNT.

:D

Task Force 12-08-10 06:39 PM

Hmm, a solar flair, yea, that would be bad if it hit us, modern society would break down quick, with the power grid down, most all eletronics fired, and people in panic thinging we were all gonna die.

onelifecrisis 12-08-10 07:00 PM

You mean I wouldn't be able to play video games? :o

WHY ISN'T SOMETHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS!?

Solar Flair? Well the Sun does try to be fashionable but I don't think that is what this thread is about.... :O:

Well I did try to destroy the sun but it proved more resilient than I anticipated. :shifty:

no, that isotope is to keep the sun from blowing up. ;)

True, but Hartmann was a stalk and ambush pilot whereas Marseille was good at the deflection shot, unlike the sun. :03:

Anyway, Gargemel, I was going to help with that Red Sun but with the whole protected planets thing...oh, and don't mention "little grey butts" ;)
