My advice is to buy it, as cheap as you can (I found mine on E-Bay for $15 inc. shipping about 6 months ago) and download the excellent mods that have changed the face of this game for the better.
That is, if you can swallow the whole DRM thing. As an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Silent-Hunter-V-...item2eb11a9733 |
Love the game. Love the work being done here and DRM.
Well it has its upside in that i can play on laptop and desktop and pick up where i saved on the other machine. The price of the game now and the mods available for it make it up there with anything thats gone before. My 2 cents worth:DL |
Finch, I'm going to make a suggestion. Build yourself a computer. You'll get more for your dollar with less bloat installed (you choose what to install), and it will be completely upgradeable by you.
What you buy in stores is proprietary and is not condusive to upgrqading. GFX card and Memory are about the limit for upgrading your machines preformance. One suggestion for a case is a Cooler Master 922HAF. Intel quad core and DDR3 ram. And an H-50 or 70 water cooling unit for your processor. I just built a totally new computer for less that 800.00 and love it. If I can do it, anyone can. :03: |

I started building my own computers about 8 years ago and have never looked back. The great thing about having your own rig is you know it intimately. But even better...you now can "evolve" your machine by upgrading components as necessary instead of waiting for the whole thing to get so old it needs to be totally replaced. If you want, you can also explore overclocking and all that entails. Look at my sig to see what I've put together. |
