Turn on all e-mail notification filters! My first day on FB (I found out the hard way:cry:) Within a 12 hour period, I had >120 email notifications from FB. I quite literally contacts you for everthing!!! or you could use a spam email account for your FB email.

FB is/was cool though. I found a ton of old friends, but the down side is, you get bombarded with a lot of BS. (i'm not going to make a list).

I just talked with The Frau as she is a big face book user and game player. Naturally she is very upset with this story.

She told me that there is nothing in Farmville that is played in real time. So at any time any player can just take a break.

Killing a kid over a game. What is with people?

People suck. I hate people. :yep:

no games (all spyware) utter waste of time anyway.

No personal info.
I wouldn't "friend" everbody I know, only the people I actively communicate with.

That lady needs to be fixed though.:nope:

My Facebook rule of thumb is that if I haven't met you in person, you're not on my friend's list. Used as a simple communication tool Facebook is awesome. Social networking, on the other hand, I'll leave that to young people. :03:

I had to learn the same lesson! I knew I had to do something when I opened up my email only to read one of my nephew's status update which said "I just took a HUGE dump". :o

Ill tell you the truth about farmville
The game is just like school!:o
You pick your crops(just like picking courses)
Different crops have different requirements(just like different courses have different requirements)
You have to show up after X hours (Just like how you have to show up on time for class)
You would have to complete tasks for your crops to thrive(just like how you would have to complete essays and assignments to pass the course)
Oh, and your crops would die if you weren't on time or did not do what was required(just like how you would fail if you did not show up for class or complete assignments)

My conclusion: Farmville is school, but you learn tons of worthless things
I would prefer algebra to clicking on crops :know:

I have never done facebook or any other social site and I think my life is just fine. I have actual friends that I actually meet and talk to. Way cool. :yep:

And we have this form of instant messaging too. We call it "Conversation" and it works rather well.

Indeed, but in my case when you have family all over the world, a quick note now and then is nice. :sunny:

E-mail works great.

I also hear that this letter writing thing was once popular. :D

Seriously if I cared about contacting my family, I would rather have a separate web site on my own household server that would have a little more control than a public social networking site.

Since it would be only for family, there would be no need to make it open to anyone.

I just can't get around these related facts about social networking sites

1. It is free to me
2. It costs a lot of money to run and maintain facebook
3. The money has to come from somewhere
4. What does facebook have that companies will be willing to pay for?????

Data. And the right data is worth a lot of money.

So how does facebook stay in business? Click ads? :nope:

Yeah, that's where I lost interest in FB. My information has probably been sold hundreds of times over, and there's nothing I can do about that except to stay away from those services. I'd rather not be treated like an involuntary commodity. :shifty:

I was talking about my friends, not my dating life. :D

Lets just say that sometimes the anticipation of sex leaves me breathless.
