Makes ebay look like a pre-school playground.

Craigslist is crazy with this stuff. :yep:

The only way to prevent that from continuing is to put your wife on craigslist... ;)

Some people have done just that with Craigslist.

Anyone hear about the craigslist killer? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Markoff

There is no doubt you have to be safe when dealing with strangers.

always meet in daylight in a public place. like the parking lot of a crowded grocery store or restaurant etc.

as long as you aren't dealing shady stuff. you can avoid shady deals.

I usually dont deliver goods to people's homes or ask them to come to my place to pick them up as there is always that possibility of them knocking you over the head and taking everything you have. or "casing the joint" for future burglary. thankfully my German Shepherd raises hell whenever people are outside.

the couple of times i have met people at either my home or theirs it has been disabled senior citizens or pregnant single moms looking for cheap stuff.

i wouldnt suggest anyone try and make a career off of craigslist - but if you have an old book shelf or an old TV taking up space in your garage... someone out there might be looking to buy those items exactly.

just yesterday afternoon i saved myself a trip to the dump to trash a bunch of cardboard boxes. Some guy in the want ads on CR was moving and needed boxes and was willing to pay $1 each. i told him just to come and get them and save me the trip to the dump and they wouldn't cost him a dime. The bed of my truck was FULL of boxes - not any more though.

i tend to think of it as an online yard sale. its funny how people will meet you somewhere to buy a used 3 year old printer for $40 rather than drive to the store and get a brand new one for $65

Can I get that autographed? :D

I hate to inform you GoldenRivet, but your wife may have a disease.

I don't know what you call it, but I use to have it with books and magazines. I had so many it filled up a ten X ten foot room.

I was going to read all of those books someday and scan the articles for interesting stuff to send to my daughter to help her with her diet and exercise programs.

Had to leave Southern California in a hurry about seven years ago and left it all behind in that little 10X10 foot room for someone else to read.

Now I am free of that disease constipated collectors have.

Only disease I have left now is "lack of nooky"

well be relieved... cause she is not what i would call a "hoarder"

her dad passed away when she was 11 years old so she tends to attach herself emotionally to items from her youth very easily, even if they have nothing to do with him.

for example; she still has her art projects in a box from 6th and 7th grade. or another example: the flyer and the "mum" from a couple of her middle school / high school homecoming dances... she insists upon keeping. but doesnt want to pay for a storage building.

You could easily fill a 10 x 10 storage room with her crap.

now... maybe im the weird one? but i have long ago thrown away similar junk which belonged to me.

the good news is, she went through and trashed some of it, and sold other things but the main reason i wouldnt call her a "compulsive hoarder" is that this behavior is not prevalent throughout our entire home... she is good about limiting it to the garage closet and a corner of the garage or in the previous home - one of the spare bedrooms.

she is getting better about it though. Our garage as of Sunday contains almost nothing but our two cars now.

she is a very sentimental person, and because of that she can easily attach emotional value to a gas station cigarette lighter if given the opportunity.

or maybe thats just a woman being a woman?
