We've had a couple of similar stories here this year. Not that it makes yours any less important or sad, just that it has happened to others as well, and almost exactly the way it happened to you.

Best of luck on your recovery, and the new job. You'll always have friends here, even if they're invisible friends you may never meet.

I know! Come to this years meeting! At least you can talk to people you know from here, and what could be worse than that?

:rotfl2:

There are a few possible responses to that, none of which would be true or accurate or of any value for that matter :DL

Seriously....if you can get to the Meet I'd thoroughly recommend you do :yep:

Welcome back, bookworm! Sorry to hear about the wife but it sounds like you realize you're better off, and you're right.:yeah:

Oh, and just to make it interesting, I also passed all my tests and exams to become a train driver. With a 93% average in all exams and no resits
:rock:Excellent! So are you moving trains yet or do you have a familiarization process to go through first?

Plus I understand that Jimbuna here will snag you one really sweet ride at the airport.

Thanks for your kind words, I know others have gone before me and had a far harder time than myself and others shall also follow the same path, alas.

At least we're still civil toward each other and there were no kids involved

Let me catch you up on what you have missed on the General Topic forum

- some people have been whining about the President
- some people have been whining about the economy
- some people have been whining about congress
- some people have been whining about America in general
- some people have been whining about the people whining about the President, the economy, congress, America in general.
Nice to see things haven't changed!:DL

No, I'm fully qualified after a year of training (no pun intended!) and can drive them by myself. I've been out on the rails since the 1st March. May God have mercy all all who board my train!:arrgh!:

Depression is quite common, but few really speak up about it and it can be a hard thing to spot if you don't pay notice to the warning signs. If it was shown as a statistic like road deaths, people would be horrified.

You've been through a lot and it sounds like you're holding up well. Welcome back!
I've been surprised how well I've come through it. I realized early on that anger, rage and felling sorry for myself wasn't going to make anything better or solve the problems, it wasn't easy and there is still some way to go yet.

Congratulations on passing your...er, would that be called a drivers licence for trains?:06:
It's called qualifying or passing out (almost literal after doing your final practicals, you never sweat as much as you do then!)

Once the inital shocks have passed moving on and closing those chapters in your life are the first steps to making everything OK again. Sounds like you are doing OK.

I was on a train the other day which kept stopping. I wondered if it was you driving.:O:

I stop where I need to stop, I go where I need to go and have plausible reasons why it's never my fault!:salute:

"It's my first day!"

"It was like that when I got here"

How hard can it be? It's not like you have to steer or anything. :shifty:

Yeah, that's what I thought. Oddly enough, I was thinking the exact same thing the first time I had sex.
