Steve! If you could choose freely,

Oh I'll never leave Subsim. Even when I was homeless and couldn't play at all I was still here every day, posting from the library. This is only about playing, not about modding or posting. :sunny:[/QUOTE] other than time, money, or other circumstances, what would you do then..
:hmm2:

The things that piss me off are when you get constant messages, or when I save and then the next time I re-load I receive a pile of old messages one after another.

And those storms :nope: I've never been to England so I don't know if it's really like that but it seems like as soon as I hit English waters the storm comes in.

Last time though I had my laptop sitting on top of an AC vent which kept it very cool, so I just TC'd through that storm in a few minutes

The nice thing about taking a break from SH3 is that the war will still be waiting for you when you decide to come back.

No hurry, we can hold WWII for you. :D

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll eventually find a way to come back and enjoy the game. :yep:

Same problem.:wah: Reece's weather fix saved me. I don't for the life of me know why the developers:88) didn't fix the weather in a patch. They knew of the problem but choose to ignore it for some reason.:damn:
And it is still a problem in SH4 and 5!
DUH!:help:

No Pacific, no IJN. Strictly OM and one each of the three types of u-boats. It will take me forever to reach 1942, and my compulsive nature demands that I play in a strict chronological order.

Well, I could have bought an entirely new computer today, but, silly me, I spent the money on a second bass (far different from the first one, but just as good), a pair of speaker cabinets so our two guitar players could hear each other better on stage, and a bunch of peripherals. I could buy a computer tomorrow, but I'm actually thinking of a car. I haven't had one in five years. Or finally getting my poor old Kawasaki up and running again. I could still buy a computer Friday, but there is no way I'm missing this year's Subsim Meet. Saturday I'll be broke again.

I think I'll enjoy the game just fine, Except it will be SH4 rather than SH3. And who knows - that computer may be along sooner than I think.

I doubt it though. We still need a couple of new floor monitors and I'd like a crossover cabinet myself. :D

And here I thought you were gonna give 9D2 a whirl. I have to say, one reason i released what i have so far as a beta was too see how many people are really interested in it. Not that many are. I may just axe the project, or fold what's been done so far into TMO so it doesn't go to waste. Doing so may also help reduce the need for dual installs.

As for SH3. I have many fond memories playing this game, but the one thing that kills it for me, above all else, is the load time. Call it a personal pet peeve, but that super long load time bugs the hell out of me. Tantamount to scraping nails on a blackboard. It's like watching a web browser thats not responding, suddenly catch up to what it was loading 5 minutes after you clicked on a flash riddled web site. (single core cpu here at work)

I've already looked at it, and it's awesome. But as I said, I'm a little on the obsessive-compulsive side, and I have to start at the beginning of the war. I can't help myself. But I'll get to it, that I promise. It may take awhile though.

I'll tell you what. Since I'm still trying to set up mods for my OM career, I'll go ahead an try a 9D2 career immediately. It's not like I can't go back and start over anytime I want. I wasn't trying to dis you at all, and I know how hard it can be to pour your heart into something and have it be ignored. I have been playing music for 45 years now.

Sometimes I just forget about things from one day to the next.

Different strokes for different folks. I can live with the load times, but only because I can spend that time talking to myself about other things that are always buzzing around my head. What makes me grind my teeth is waiting five minutes for it to load and then having the experience I described above.

Honestly, It won't break my heart in the slightest if nobody touch's it. Let's me off the hook for having to support another mod. :rotfl2:

Jimbuna 08-12-10 06:53 AM

That's tough Steve.....sounds to me like you've had a similar experience to what I encountered last week, your system has eventually been overpowered by a plethora of mods :nope:

I've a 3.0GHZ quad core system coming tomorrow and I suspect/hope you'll not be far behind me

Ooh, mod heaven compared to mod soup - then we expect to see your mod list, not your son's from Dec! :D

He finally gave in and sold Neal the last surviving set of negatives from the film he shot at the last Subsim Meet.

Sadly, Neal is now running the site from a cardboard box underneath a highway overpass just outside the I-610 Loop.

Well you just never know :DL

It will be far easier to determine what won't work with what because of an actual conflict instead of the old chestnut "have I simply overloaded the systems capabilities"? :hmmm:

That's a hard one to answer without running the risk of mixed responses....but the simple truth is I salted a sum of money away a couple of years ago in preparation for the day when the upgrade/replacement became inevitable.

The system arriving tomorrow is not top of the range actually:

AMD 64 Phenom2 Quad Core 945+ - 3.0 GHZ
8 GIG DDR3 RAM - 1333mhz
2x500GIG SATA2 Drives
ASUS M4N68T Motherboard
Integrated 16 Bit 7.1 Sound
1GB ATI Radeon HD5750 PCI Express
W7 (not sure if it's Home or Ultimate)

I'm currently looking at a newer/more powerful chip set/system than the one above for a backup that won't be used for SH work but other more powerful games in the near future, therefore negating the need to having to constantly run registry scans etc. between mod testing.

Still got them hence the second system already in the pipeline :DL
