The .50 Cal M2 round cartridge is for use against light-armored or unarmored targets, concrete shelters, and similar bullet-resisting targets.

Armor Penetration.
500 meters: 0.75 in (19 mm)
1,200 meters: 0.39 in (10 mm)

As you can see, a Torpedo boat with just one M2 can cause a LOT of damage to your light-skinned u-boat. Take it as a lesson learned and on to the next one.

I don't get it, all I want to do is sail around see the world and sink a few ships and all these country's turn on you and want you dead! Its not safe out there thats for sure. :03:

A submarine is a weapon of stealth meant to attack larger targets. Engaging a torpedo boat reverses the principle. It converts the hunter into the hunted.

Like Sailor Steve says, if you have a serious punishment reserved for getting killed in the game, you will start thinking as a real captain would. :salute:

What usually happens is that I'm at periscope depth and if a warship is charging me I have the WO set up a solution and I lob an electric torpedo at it then i hit flank speed and dive. Usually its a 50/50 chance of hitting it.

I leave lone warships alone this usually happens if I'm attacking a convoy and my position was compromised. If I miss then I keep diving regardless but its nice to attempt to prevent depth charges from falling in the first place.

you can assign petty officers 3 skills.. i suggest watchmen gunner and repair
use commander and assign them jobs straight up

With SH3C you can set your deck gun reload time to zero, so when one of them little b*****ds comes on you let the b*****d have it. :D

Even had a good duel with destroyers when I'm just playing for fun. :DL

Yep I've been using GWX all along and just recently with commander aside from giving you powerful tools and a nice record keeper, its awesome to see the details of the ships that my boat sank although on the last patrol I wasn't too lucky. Had to escape 4 warships and never ran into a single freighter. Maybe I should swing through the channel to the eastern edge of England after patrolling the assigned grid because the West side seems to be devoid of merchant ships.

In the nav map view there's a nice pull-down map showing the Atlantic shipping routes. I'm not sure what type boat you're in but if you can hang out around where those routes converge into the Western Approaches to Britain (north and south around Ireland) there should be excellent possibilities for hunting merchants.

The Channel and the eastern English coast can be treacherous. Relatively shallow water and the very real possibility of running into a mined area, plus you'll likely find a much stronger Royal Navy presence and you'll be in range of RAF Coastal Command. They can and will come after you if you are spotted or engage another vessel and someone calls in your position.
