Now get the GWX3.0 CFG for SH3 Commander from my FF account (link above my sig).

You will now be able to start your career in a Type IIA in the 1st Flotilla.

Grazie Comandante!! I must install first the new mod and only then the GWX3 CFG, right? No need to reinstall GWX from start, correct?:)

That is corect, SH3 is a standalone programme, once you have installed it (usually to C\Program Files activate the CFG and point it (if asked) to the Commander root folder.

Done and tried it on a mission! Really, also this Commander is an excellent work. I think now I'm all set to truly start a campaign! :yeah:

On my last trip, I was ordered to patrol map reticle BF16. While on my way there, off the port of Calais, I came across a coastal freighter flying French flag, and so sice it was the 19th of september I went to attack it. With 3 torpedoes in its belly it went to keep company to Neptune. Then resumed my way to that reticle (FAR, more precisely way off Cornwall!!!) but didn't resist to the temptation, being in the middle of the night, to sneak in the port of Cherbourg. There I showed a french Coastal Tanker anchored at the pier who's the boss around these parts, and it made a painful acquaintance with my other two forward torpedoes. Now I have just one to use in the rest of patrol, and I hope no surprises come around! While going away I came across a small patrol motorboat, I believe british, and had to dive to escape from it. Then I met a big French cargo, and used the cannon against it, but then had to abort because a) it proved itself to be more than resilient, just burning a bit here and there while my crew was pumping shells in its hull and b) the torpedo boat was coming back probably summoned by the sailors on the freighter.

I submerged and went away, and now I'm 400 km from my patrol zone.

And then, back home in Wilhelmshaven for some rest and tonnage counting.:)

Colleghi Comandanti,

On my way back, I have been intercepted by an armed trawler a tthe service of His Majesty the King:D I went under water and I am going very slow (1-2 knots) in schleichfahrt at 20-22 metres (the total depth is 27). I am trying to travel in different directions (first W, then a piece to N, then S, and so on) to see if I can confuse that boat. I have no torpedoes, and I am sure that if I surface it will attack with the cannon before I can do the same with mine.

Any sugggestions on how to behave and shake that trawler off??

I suspect your position is hopeless....if you are able, let the trawler go over the top of you then quckly surface and try to get in a few well placed shots before he can bring his heavy forward gun to bear.

There is a thing that does not appear on the box under "system requirements"... it should read like this: Human: PATIENCE v 10.0 :D:D

I simply deicded to stand still and quiet at the bottom and see who got tired first. He did. I managed to go on, but at the last moment in front of Dunkerque I was attacked by a British desttroyer, and took the very, very unwise decision to make a gunfight with it. Result: quite some damage all over the boat and my Watch officer went to book a one way ticket on Charon's boat.

I submerged and was quiet for a while like before, letting my men repair the damages in the meantime. This also got tired and went away. The rest of the trip home was uneventful.

Tally of my first war patrol: one Coastal Tanker, one Medium Freighter and a Schleppe (don't know the translation, sloop maybe?)

Not terrible, I must say. :rock:

In the next patrol, I was even less aggressive: I sank (I am almost ashamed to admit it) with the cannon a single COAL BARGE. Then, I went on to my patrol zone, saving my torpedoes for my way back through the Dover strait, thinking that I could meet a jucy convoy or wait for the night around a French port and get in there. But no, the weather became very bad, with rain and high sea, and it stayed this way until my return at Wilhelmshaven, 2500 km From Ireland to home, all with rain and waves and fog. No prossibility to see, much less to sink something.

So, 314 Tons sank :damn:

Is it normal that the weather remanis the same way for so long? As far as I can tell, in stock SH3 it was more varied.

I think you're doing just fine, little and often soon adds up! I often return with zero tonnage, whether it's dud torpedoes or crap aim on my part who is to say! :wah:

On the weather, I've worked in Ancona for a couple of months and the weather was pretty much glorious the whole time, and in the North Sea it rains quite a lot. It's sunny out my window right now but I know where I'd rather be. :cool:

I would not get used to sailing through the English Channel because it soon becomes heavily mined in a similar fashion to that of the east coast of England.

The weather has always been a talking point but is a difficult one to resolve to everyones satisfaction.

this is true, weather after all IS relistic. I forgot where I was exactly:DL. I was in Ancona as well, 4 months ago: you can find the Volunteer Selection Centre of our Navy, I was there for the tests as Auxiliary Officer in the Coast Guard! May I ask if you were there for pleasure or for work?


Today, a fruitful patrol. I was assigned to patrol a zone way west from Brest adn while on my way there and on the way back, I managed to send to Davy Jones' Locker these ships:

-Kustentanker (1253 tons) F (in Cherbourg port. The coastal defense of those frog-eaters* did get a couple of shots at me that found their mark, but my damage control team performed quite well and all was in order in a short time)

Kleines Fischcutter (83 tons) F

Same as above (83 tons)

I sank these two with my cannon, otherwise the men get too lazy on a long trip, they have to be ready at all times!!!! ;-)

Kleines Frachter (3512 tons) UK

Grosses Frachtschiff (7844 tons) UK

Mittelgrosser Frachtschiff (5444 tons) F (I sank this with my two last rear torpedoes in a Dutch harbour, I was passing by during the night on my way back to Wilhelmshaven and told to myself "let's check if there is sonething interesting", and among all those Dutch ships I found also this one, and it promply made acquaintance with my torpedoes:D)


7 Medals to distribute plus a medal for myself! :salute: Good!

I was at the airport providing communications for the tanker aircraft supporting the Kosovo conflict in 1999. Was living up the coast in Senigallia, and having a great time.
