Another good example of this kind of corruption, is Portland, OR:haha:. These guys get what they deserve.
Maybe a side question off Platypus, are there any big, metro/urban areas that aren't hotbeds of political corruption? If there are, I wonder what is different between them and the corrupt urban areas? |
Well if you want to see corruption, head to the local government level. :yep:

Perot and Nader failed because they represented the dissatisfied wings of their respective parties. I think for a third party to be successful in the US it would need to draw it's support equally from the centrists of both sides.

A nice moderate party? I might just join that :yeah:
Of course, currently we have three "Third parties" in the United States and have had them for a while Constitution Party (the third largest political party in the US by the way) Green Party Libertarian Party and those are just the big "third parties" if you want to consider the smaller "third parties" we have a bunch of them American First Party America's Independent Party American Patriot Party The American Party Independent American Party Prohibition Party Working Families Party The New Party Labor Party Socialist Party USA Communist Party USA Socialist Labor Party Party for Socialism and Liberation Progressive Labor Party Socialist Equality Party Socialist Workers Party World Socialist Party of the United States Workers Party, USA Workers World Party Centrist Party Independence Party of America Modern Whig Party Reform Party of the United States of America It is not that we don't have a "third party" it is more like we have too many "third parties" that can't get organized. |

Third parties do not have appeal because they bring little to the table.
Libertarians? The "freedoms" they want to give to business would cause chaos and loss of dignity that would cause the market to skyrocket for a year or two then crash beyond belief when the laws are reinstated by an angry low paid and abused worker populace. Green party? Exists almost solely to spoil elections that is about it... Prohibition? That is it? And take away people's beer again and there will be riots in my opinion. For instance if I made a party that fits perfectly my views that MASSIVE money ought to be spent on technology development. That wont sit well with teachers about to lose their jobs or a corporation that decides it needs to pay even less taxes and more freedom to outsource. |
