You all are gonna get what you paid for. Wishes and Dreams. But... forget about what counts.

Those damn companies target the younger people, FIREWALL, not old f$%^ers like you and me. We have to watch our wallets. They don't know what a wallet is yet.

That's probably a good thing...

Good riddance.

Hey I didn't feel cruel saying that. Feels good in fact.:haha:

Sailor Steve 06-15-10 01:39 AM

Well, if it will be more of the same, I start to agree.

There never was a chance for SH6 to begin with, and it is a good thing, because all that would end up happening is they'd use SH5 as a base, which used Sh4 as a base, which is in all reality, a developer made supermod of SH3. The kicker is that alot of small details in the way of functionality have been lost as a result. Every level of indirection they move from the base code, the worse the title becomes. Since Ubi would never TRULY make a new game from the ground up, with ALL new code.... no SH6 is a good thing.

^^ What about SH6 minus Ubi, Ducimus? Could be done. :yep:

With regards to any "uppity video game industry upstarts": they may not make a fortune off of us, but we sure as hell are good friends to have. So, if there are any uppity video game industry upstarts reading this, please take note. We make damn good friends. :salute:

The situation for Ubisoft does not look good at all. I can't say for sure without looking at their net worth, or any press conferences, but I imagine that they will be accquired by someone else soon. If they are accquired, it is anyone's guess as to whether Ubisoft Romania will remain. I simply cannot make an educated guess on this subject, so I'll just cross my fingers.

Well, a basic common-sense law of commerce is that if you do bad business, you lose your business. I think Ubisoft has done bad business over the last couple of years. Their executive decision-makers have seriously misjudged the nature of the market and made some very bad decisions. It's only fair that they and their shareholders pay for them - the dedicated players have already paid plenty.

Hardly.

Releasing unfinished, rushed, buggy games, running unsufficient patching business and maintaining lousy customer relations, does not make you a champion with your intended customers.

CCIP 06-15-10 03:26 AM

I think it's more accurate to say that some of their titles and franchises will be missed.

I don't know if Ubisoft going down would really be a good or bad thing for gaming. It's probably not very good. But in order to break the status quo, sacrifices have to be made... the industry can't move forward when it's dominated by the likes of EA and Ubi.

krashkart 06-15-10 04:02 AM

^^ The pot really needs a good stirring. Big companies have the resources to mass-publish, mass-advertise a game. But big companies also have a way of looking after their own gains before anything else.

Wolfehunter 06-15-10 06:40 AM

They did it to themselves. They can only blame themselves for there own stupidity. But I'm sure they blame pirates... lol :har::arrgh!:

Jimbuna 06-15-10 07:42 AM

If they do go down the pan (and I sincerely hope they don't) the majority of the cause will have been self inflicted.

Money is extremely tight for every customer base these days and the only way your going to get them to part with any of that money is by having the products that are attractive to them.

NeonSamurai 06-15-10 07:58 AM

The irony to me is that I personally consider EA to be just as bad, if not worse. EA is notorious for releasing lots of half finished, buggy or broken games, pretending they will fix them, and then dumping them. Only their triple A titles get any kind of attention or polish (the sims). Then of course there is EA sports, which releases the same game with a few touch-ups year after year after year after year after year. They also are fans of draconian DRM (though smart enough to back off when the consumer backlash hit). Last they love to release tons of stupid little addons and other crap.

Anyhow, I hope they finish the Assassin's Creed series before going under (oh and they better strip the online DRM). It's about the only series I have any interest in from them any more.

Raptor1 06-15-10 08:01 AM

EA is definitely worse. People barely even noticed when EA used the online-required DRM even before Ubi...
