Oh wait, wrong game.

Seriously though, it seems that perhaps your current installation of SH3 is pushing your computer to the extreme. It was, after all, not the most optimised game ever to be released. ;)

I was getting that error until I put the Ram switch in, then all was fine again.

I'm nearly sure Steve has put his machine specs up before but would like to be reminded to be sure.

The machine I'm running GWX3.0 on is pretty low end by todays standards:

3.2Ghz Athlon
2GB RAM
7800GS series nVidia

Sailor Steve 05-18-10 09:54 AM

Pentium 4 3 Gig
2 GB RAM

Nvidia 6200 256MB

Jimbuna 05-18-10 10:03 AM

I'm just comparing your specs with those recommended by Ubi on the game box because as you know GWX was designed to work under the same specs.

'1.4GHz or faster, 512MB, 64MB minimum card'

Your well above everything so there isn't a specs problem here.

Possibly a memory stick starting to act up?

Crikey, the possibilities are endless.

I spent between ond and two hours yesterday performing a complete new installation with over 70 mods....I know you want to avoid that if possible, so how about disabling the mods, running the game and if that looks fine, enable a few at a time?

There is a faint possibility all the additional mods may have tipped your system over the edge.

PITA mate I know but that is all I can suggest :-?

As I said, I dumped that career and started it over. So far so good. I did disable FM's Interiors, but for a different reason. I can't see how that could have caused the problem, but I can't see a lot of things.

hope it stays good for you steve and go out and put some on the bottom:up:

I'd be curious if that did the trick. Now that I recall, last month I'd been getting constant CTDs during loading. FM interiors were one of the mods I disabled and haven't had a CTD since.

The error could be anything I'm afraid.

Well, I started to run Sandra the diagnostic system, and they had a new update (still free) and it's wonderful. It lets you look at every single detail of your PC. Sandra told me that my memory card was over three years old and I should look into new drivers. So I downloaded the latest driver for the 6200, and it seems to have stopped the stuttering I always go through when the game first loads up. It also advised me to up the refresh rate. Why, I don't know, but who am I to argue; so I did.

Will it help? I'll find out tonight.:sunny:

Oh, and Sandra: You can buy it, but the free version suits all my needs.

Here's hoping...fingers crossed :sunny:

Not like you to take notice of a woman :O:

I had the same issue. Turned out to be indexing sucking up system resources. If you still have the issue I would recommend shutting it down as you don't need it constantly updating in the background.

:salute:

Well, it did it again. Same message. I guess I'll shut off FMI again. Too bad, as I like the mod. Report back later.

Sailor Steve 05-18-10 11:00 PM

That seems to have fixed it. I removed FM's New Interiors, and this time I made it out of Wilhelmshaven without a hitch. Got out to the North Sea and saved.

I'm bummed because I really like that mod, but if my computer can't handle it, I guess I'll do without for awhile.
