What mod?
Instead of 105 mm is placed 37 mm?

kurfürst 08-05-10 01:59 PM

Hi BUKER,

it´s not a Mod, it´s just a change in the config files of the Uboat.
It´s just eyecandy and not playable.
I changed this because the late-war IX D2 didn´t have a 10,5cm deck gun but had a 37mm Flak gun (U-873, U-875).
If You are interested I´ll send You the necessary files.

Hi kurfürst!

Yes, yes, it is very necessary!:):yeah:

I also want to ask such a question.
Very interested in this picture!

P.S.Sorry for bad English ...

Hi BUKER,

I changed some details of the IX C/40 conning tower to make it look more like the late-war versions of this Uboat type. I added the Snorkel pipe on the side, reworked the Snorkel, added Ammo canisters and the "Flakschutzbügel" to the Wintergarten and put the Life rafts canisters on the back of the Turm. I also changed the compass housing in front of the conning tower; and the "Netzabweiser". Some parts of the "Windabweiser" on top of the tower are also missing. As I am absolutely new to Modding I can tell you it was a lot of work, at least for me!

Here are some screens of my U-889 and the real U-Boat, surrendering to Canadian forces in May ´45:
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/u-889-1.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/U-889-a.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/u-889-2.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/U-889-b.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/u-889-4.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/U-889-c.jpg

The problem is that, due to reworking the 3D model of the "Turm", all the textures got messed up. So I did my own textures like the one of U-889. It´s still far far far from perfect; for exaple the deck textures for the tower are completely missing. Anyway, I´m quite happy with my U-889!

As for the 37mm Flak gun on Your IX D2, change the following in Your Data/Submarine/ NSS_Uboat9d2/ NSS_Uboat9d2.upcge:

Wow! That's an amazingly good looking paintjob, you've done there! I would be happy too! :salute:

Do you happen to have one floating around for a IXD2? Like U-181? :D

kurfürst 08-07-10 09:59 AM

Thank You for your kind comment!
Unfortunately I don´t have a repaint of U-181 or any other IX D2.

I only have two shots of U-862, a IX D2 commanded by Jürgen Oesten, returning from patrol:

It´s amazing how worn-out the boats looked after a long journey!

Hi kurfürst!

I did it!:yeah:

It is a pity that the crew did not stand up to the gun ...
It's only me?

Yes! Yes! That will do fine! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...trampoline.gif

How long would such a paintjob take you?
I can ship you a box of the finest, danish beer, if that may help you?! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...lies/dopey.gif

Hi Jan Kyster,

because it´s raining today I spend a bit of time on reworking an exisiting
IX D2 texture set, originally done by a guy called Oak Groove.
I changed the basic colour to make it look more bleeched-out and added some stains, scars and spots. Once finished, I hope it looks like U-861 shown in the two photos above. I´ll try to add the jumping panther symbol, too.

This is how it looks at the moment:

I´ll continue on the paintjob if I can find the time.
Any comments or hints are much appreciated!

Beste Grüße, Kurfürst :salute:

P.S.: :D:D I´ll get back to you regarding the Danish Beer! :D:D

Jan Kyster 08-08-10 09:37 AM

Cheers to rainy days!

Very delicate paintjob! In my book some the finest art, I've ever seen.
And surely a boat I would love to take around the globe, so hope you can find the time!

Any time, friend! Just drop me a PM with an address for where to ship it.
With the combined forces of The Royal Danish Postal Service and Deutsche Post, you should have it the next day! :salute:
