Ahh fair play matey - I wouldn't worry about the vibes, there are a lot of people here who are more interested in the protection than the game. They tend to come in and bash the game every now and then.

The game needs improving but it's not bug ridden, unplayable, etc etc, after a while you'll be able to wade through the chaff to get to the important stuff.

Hope you get your problem sorted - I hear that Steam tends to take a while to patch games , so I wouldn't worry just yet.

Well I got both Steam and the DVD (DVD 8 days later could not wait ) :-)
So im back in the game no problem. Been playing since first Silent Hunter. The Modders are great! And I would guess that UBI takes alot of Good stuff from them (good critisim) :DL

Do I need to start a new campaign with the new patch, or just return to port before I install?

To be safe I would start a new campaign.
