What an improvement. Well done!

Looks good. Subtle, yet effective change. My only complaint is that at very close distances (such as when you are standing on the bridge and looking at the walls around you) the texture pattern is too low-res. But not a big deal.

Nice!!!

I looked at and and my only question is if you can take down the amount of bump mapping on the outer hull

Love this mod.
I don't know how you guys do it but please don't stop.
Really unfortunate that someone gave you 1 star, why I will never know.
THANKS.

The author of this mod is gone, maybe someone else will be able to answer my questions:
1. Is it 1.2 compatible?
2. Are there any issues with it?
3. I can't open some of mod's .dds files, even though all the original .dds files in my game folder can be opened - is it a sign of something dangerous?

SteelViking 09-08-10 03:39 PM

As it only changes .dds files, I am sure that it is 1.2 compatible. If you are trying to open those images in GIMP and they are not wanting to open, I would not worry about it. A few of the .dds files in SH5 have their headers(hex term) setup weird. PS can still open them, but GIMP and I think Paint.net cannot open them. If you are using PS(PaintShop) then there might be some corruption of the download, and you might not want to use it.

My main caution would be this: That mod is pretty old, and a lot of new work has been done on .dds and .tga files, so make sure that you install newer mods after this one in JSGME. For instance, you would want to install my interior mod after this one if you plan to use both.

Yes, I am using Gimp with dds.exe plug-in. What troubled me is all game files open, but not all mod's files.

I'll give it a try, and of course I'll install before any newer mods - thanks for the tip.

Do you have any info/memories about this mod's license? What about further modifications?

I just made my last payment on your contract. Unka Guido will pay you a visit.:D I'll try out your mod.

There are some stock .dds files that GIMP cannot open. If you go through the Misc folder, there are a quite a few like that.

No, I don't know about the authors usage permission. But, if someone cannot be reached to get permission to use their work, and their documentation either does not exist, or does not directly state that others are not to use it, you can use their work as long as you give proper credit.

I like it! A grimy sub is what is needed. I'd admit the shiny one blinded me.:salute:
