That is indeed the most current version, however if you are going to run it with GWX3 you will also need to install the config files for the combination:

EDIT: Beat to the punch! Would've been faster if it hadn't been for those meddling kids and their dog.

I forgot about the extra config files for GWX3.
You have to be bloody quick in here sometimes,ya beat me to the draw! :shucks:

Everything is relative. I have an old 19" CRT monitor, and where others complain about pitch-black nights I complain I can see too well.

Underwater is quite light for me in the daytime, and as I said I keep the SH3 Commander setting to as low as I can get it and still see the conning tower at all.

I also agree with what Immelman said. I never raise the scope below periscope depth, and I never raise it at any speed above 3 knots, because any faster and the vibration would make it more and more difficult to see at all.

Threesixtyci 04-07-10 01:57 PM

I'm sure when you could, planes would have no problems seeing the sub, too.

maillemaker 04-07-10 03:01 PM

I'm just using GWX. I can see pretty good underwater with the scope, until I'm really deep anyway.

In real life past 30m you wouldn't be able to raise the PS to begin with, the pressure is too high, it was not designed for use at such depth and even if you did somehow raise it you wouldn't be able to turn it for the same reason. Also you do not want to do any such thing. You want it to stay in its well safe and sound when deeper the 30m any other position will result in flooding. The deeper you are the more severe the flooding. (this is for you people that forget their scopes up after a submerged attack)

Maximum usable depth is maybe 25m and even then it will be hard to see and hard to turn it. Also when using PS do not exceed 5-6kts since in real life it would be bent backwards by the water resistance.

 Down scope!

Agreed....and the same for the schnorkel (if so equipped) anything more than 5 knots and it would vibrate at best or sheer off at worst.

Sorry a bit off topic..

@Jimbuna

When is the snorkel available in GWX3? Do you have to be in a specific port to acquire it?

I'm currently in June 1943 sailing out of Brest, France.

Thanks

LOL :DL

But have you checked the CFG files to see if that date is replicated ingame? :hmmm:

geosub1978 04-08-10 03:25 PM

I use the periscope to search for nets when penetraiting harbors. So far I have entered in Alexandria, Malta and Loch Eve with much success! It works this way!!I have set clarity at 20 in SH3Commander. Why not? The rest are at 100%.

Yes Pauli you were faster, but you can't beat Jimbuna for his wisdom on the game files :DL

So I'll have to still survive a couple of months without the snorkel..

Thanks guys :salute:
