I mean when they reach 1000 meters then they just are like normal torpedoes.

That could be because the speed of the target is not fast enough....check the working paramaters of the torpedo, one version requires the minimum speed of the target to be 12 knots.

I usually attack convoys who are at 5kts speed. And the majority of these torpedoes works fine

If it's something like the Falke then it must be luckily pointing in the right direction after it becomes armed (400 metres).

To answer lordofdoom's question IXB has one sonar torpedo. It cannot take more in mp. Make a good use of her.(the topedo i mean)
