DRM is a minor annoyance I could tolerate if I had to.
I am still concerned with the lack of information concerning game play or actual simulation of submarine operations. Glitzy graphic eye-candy is all I am seeing being released by Ubi. Nothing on manual targeting, plotting. I could live with the DRM, limited boats, limited career, limited campaigns as long as I get, in return, a better more enjoyable simulator of submarine operations. Since I can only base my impressions on what Ubi chooses to release, I fear that all I am getting with SH5 is less Less boats Less career durations Less campaigns Less simulation Less ... And in return all I seem to get is glitzy graphic eye-candy and a cook pushing soup. :( I am not getting the impression that Ubi is marketing SH5 for players like me. :nope: |
...
The information presented is still very insufficient and, especially since it is so close to the planned release date it is a suspiciously similar situation to the premature buggy releases of SHIII and SHIV... I hope they this time don't care about their stock prices only, but about providing customers with an error free quality product.
I want to know whether we'll definitely get the 43-45 years and the missing subs in a SINGLE addon for a reasonable price as I consider this ought to have been part of this product already (if it shouldn't be seen as a step back from SHIII). Further, I am worried that the RPG elements and walking in the sub can't be turned off and end up being unnecessary micromanagement distracting from the simulation part itself. I have seen real subs from inside, and I'll watch a documentary or read to book to see the internals with all detail. I want to simulate subwarfare here, not hitting my head on a bulkhead. Lastly, but equally important: I want to see how the campaign missions link together. Is it a continuous dynamic campaign, or a set of linked subcampaigns (within which you have the freedom to operate in that theater at will, but not say "leave the mediteranean to join the hunt at the coast of Africa at will)? I'd like to be able to change my AO if I wish (though the BdU might get my ass on a silver tablet doing so). I want to be sure it is not a scripted set of campaigns linked together within which you just have a couple of missions in each theater, but the freedom that you had in SHIII. Oh, finally: With the DRM issue as is, it is still an unconditional NO to buying, so that needs to be reversed too before I'd consider SHV a significant step forward over SHIII. |
Same - less inclined.
I'm more inclined to wait and hope there will be an off line option. Which pisses me off till no end because here I thought I could get into the game from the get go and see it .. bahh what's the use in explaining. And now I see more and more players here seemingly willing to cave in because of the eyecandy. No, Ubisoft didn't see that comming. My honest thoughts on that would probably get me banned but the point is I will not support this genre - series if it has DRM. Which also means I won't purchase the game to help support this site and that is depressing enough to not want to even play SH3 anymore. Somewhat of a butterfly effect. |

One day...if offline, maybe. |
Buying it day one so I can have every right to criticize and/or praise the game.
|
NO WAY!! I'm not gonna buy it until the chain has been removed!
|
I will buy the collectors edition hehe:D
|
My mind hasn't been changed about this game. It will take a lot more than pretty pictures to do that.

voted same - less inclined.
When the DRM is removed, which could be in 9 months to a year after release or maybe even later... Then I'll reconsider. If they add the missing types and later-war.... Then I'll reconsider. If none of the above... Then I'll not reconsider. If they both remove the DRM and add the missing parts, then I'll definitely buy it, even if the price is 150% instead of 100%. |
I really do hope there wont be any attempt to do a
SHV, Your Intentions 2 Weeks Before Release and a SHV, Your Intentions 1 Week Before Release threads and polls |
I would be inclined to buy it because I have every other one of the SH series however I am soon to change jobs and will be living where I work.
Now I know for a fact that I can hardly get a signal on my mobile phone in the accommodation area because I stayed there for a short while last year and there is no internet provided wireless or otherwise and my mobile broadband USB stick is as much use as a chocolate teapot there. So my hands are tied... I'm sure as hell not forking out £30 so I can caress the box, look at the cover artwork and read the manual. |
