so, after doing alittle math from the will you buy poll, If they market it at 50 dollars which is average for new games if I rember.... they have lost 31,800 dollars. just from subsim...

It´s like black may in 1943 for UBI , in a short period the damage done to SHV was too high that they had to retire of the battle. ( less sales and loss of people and money)

Remember it only took one man with a rifle and three bullets to kill the worlds most powerful man. Never say Never........again..... |
All of this discussion is moot for me. I am already having to purchase something I do not want (a U Boat sim) which I am buying to support Ubisoft hoping that SH6 will be back in the Pacific where the series belongs. As long as I have the funds available I will have an internet connection but, the economics are thinning out the herd so to speak and I cannot say that I won't have some kind of situation that would cause me to drop my ISP. The health of my family and pets will always come before my leisure time activities. I won't be pirating the game though. I couldn't crack it with a nut cracker! However in my opinion, if it ain't showing up on the bit torrent sites, nobody else will be playing it but subsim.com members. The news about the modding tools is a plus I suppose, if you know how to do mods. I am wondering will we be able to hear the sound of the ASDIC hitting the hull during gameplay?

I guess some of the nay-sayers will buy sh5 at the end...maybe not everyone, but some will.

I found this today as I did a quick internet search on Ubisoft and DRM:
http://pendr4gon.blogspot.com/2010/0...ry-online.html Food for thought perhaps. Well, I've gone back to enjoying Silent Hunter 3 and will have to hope that Silent Hunter 5 returns to base for critical repairs before sailing our way. If it were my company, I'd announce a strategic delay, dump the mandatory online scheme, launch a major PR effort to regain my customer base and try and be very transparent at this point - in other words, avoid "spin" and hiding behind excuses like "this is simply the way the market / culture / technology is forcing us to go, blah, blah." I mean, you're publishing a U-Boat simulator right? Read your history books guys. To hell with what everybody else is doing in the market. Just be different and your customers will rally to you - load your torpedoes and launch 'em. Well, I'm just a customer. Now, I've got orders to report to Lorient before the wife stirs and then I'll need to make my way to the galley to feed my crew. Good hunting all. |
LOL i just reported back there, with a Kingfisher shot down (was taken by surprise) and the DDs that followed the Kingfisher had me mauled pretty well.
Ay Ay Ay, the Bay of Biskay!:o :yeah: |

So excuse me for not joining in any victory celebrations just yet. |
I think Neal is getting the keys for this thread

We want Ubi to reconsider and save itself. They obviously did not think this thing through. Now, they are probably perplexed at the massive negative reaction |
