LOL they mocked me when I said DLC was comming. :03:

Don't like it don't buy it. I have no problem with a company wanting to make money off of a product that barely makes enough to cover their development and advertising costs. I seriously doubt that the 50 or so malcontents on this site will have any substantial impact on Ubis sales of this game and further sales of expansion packs.

Right. Petitions, ok. But once we go down the road of announcing we will not buy a game and aggresively trying to kill it. trying to get others to join us, the publisher will drop SH for good. |
DLC...it's all good...aaaannnnnnddddddd....other companies do it....so what is the beef? :hmmm: Look at Fallout 3....I would have paid for the DLC without blinking an eye. Same for SH4, I got the add on. No big deal. I will do the same for SH5. :yeah:

as i expected, there is a lot i am dissappointed to read and there is also
a lot about sh5 that i am very happy to read about. give it a few more reads guys and do it with an open mind and you will see they are giving us a very very moddable game  is it perect? nope, it is tragic? nope, will i buy it? yes definately i see sh5 as a ready made fixer-upper that just needs to be fine tuned by the modders to be a very great game. after all, we as modders are able to devote a lot more time to the game then the devs are allowed to so i trust this will be a wonderfull game when modded. plus dont forget they said near the end that if sh5 did well it was likely we would see an expansion for it to add more subs and content to the end of the war. i dont mind paying for another ($10-$15 hopefully) expansion if the new content is done correctly and ads something more to the game. |
Just to clarify a little bit here, I don't have a problem with the way SH5 is going, I'd just thought I'd poke a little fun at some of the thoughts flying (sailing?) around right now.
Edit to respond to some people: Quote:

75 $ - main part is the VII 25 $ - add on 1 = IX boats 25 $ - add on 2 = II boats 25 $ - add on 3 = late war, late war technology and XXI/XXIII boats. The prices I foresee in Denmark, if they appear as DVDs in shops that is. The prices in your countries may be lower - or higher even. That will definitely reduce sales dramatically. Maybe not for you, but for a lot of others. It's simply not the way to go. Fewer initial users means less mouth-to-mouth publicity for the game, which is the best sales advertisement and the cheapest they can get, and loosing that would really be bad for both the producer and the gamers who like this genre of game. |
Every time I get a newly release game and head over to the forums I see posts screaming Boycot.
What I love about Silent Hunter series is you get these when the game isn't even released yet. |
I agree with Carotio, as he is needing his coins to pay for his education.........On the other hand Carotio the prices will be like chump change after you graduate.......Nice to see your cheerful face again.......Continued success to you sir..

Carotio, true sims usually cater to only one model. That way a developer can concentrate on building an exciting world in which to place that superbly detailed model. Take The finest helicopter sim ever made for example: DCS Blackshark.
Now, on a personal note, I'd appreciate if you stop slagging off the only developer making quality submarine sims. You're lucky to get anything you spoilt child. |

I'm not looking to insult you, I simply disagree. I really don't think that they are gonna market an add-on just for one type of Uboat when modders could do it for free. (even if I feel uncomfortable with getting such a gook work for free. :-?) Juste un simple calcul: Let's say 50$ for the game and another 50$ for an add-on: total 100$ Now let's say an AVERAGE of 10 hours of play each week for 3 years (that means some weeks we're gonna play more and some weeks we'll play less and wait for add-on, new mods or super mods etc.) 10 hours/week x 50 weeks/year x 3 years = 1500 hours (with 2 weeks of vacation). Now if we do: 100$/1500 hours = 0.067 let's say 7 cents per hour... not that bad. Ok I didn't show the cost of a new rig but you can use you computer of other games/things than SHV. |

1. They're releasing a whole game with only one type of U-boat, why not add-ons as well? For example "Operation Drumbeat" including the IXB, IXC (and as a bonus the IXA and IXD2), "The Black Sea" including the IIB (and as a bonus the IIA and IID) and so on. Isn't this what happens with Flight Sims? :hmmm: 2. Are you sure on the part in orange? I have not read anywhere anything confirming that playable units (heck, any units) can be added by modders. Sure, I could assume it to be so, but then, I, like you and many others, also assumed that SH5 would include all major U-boat types...and look how that ended. If the devs could answer this question, then IMHO a large part of the DLC argument becomes moot. If modders can add new playable u-boats--and not JUST the U-boat but all the associated equipment that will be required--and without requiring a Degree in Computer Science, then I'll be quite happy knowing that (be it right or wrong) some modder(s) will come to the rescue. Outcome is the same, but money stays in pocket. Quote:
