Unless my patrol area is far away like when i patrol from Pearl, I run at 12 knots(still ahead standard, but have to set it on the knot-o-meter) to my patrol area, then run at 10 knots in the area.Range is not reduced much and it really speeds up the transit.:yeah:

does anybody know the best fuel speeds for the s class?

i dont use them much and i never hear anyone talk about their fuel economy so whats the sweet spot for best range in an s-boat?

Ahoy. I've never ran the numbers myself, but I play almost exclusively with the S-boats, and the fuel economy appears to be the same as with the other subs (i.e. dependant on speed, not engine settings). I read somewhere on here that the ideal speed is 10.9 knots and through many months of playing that appears to be true. For the stock S-boat, Ahead Standard = 11knots, unless you're charging batteries and then it's Ahead Full = 11 knots. (convenient, no?)

Major Tip: The S-boat batteries take FOREVER to charge & seriously suck fuel while doing so. Use your batteries only when necessary. When avoiding aircraft, I crash dive to periscope depth, All Stop the engines and let her settle down using momentum and ballast. Wait as long as you feel necessary, surface , and Ahead Standard. With this method, you can get from Brisbane to Luzon and back, with fuel to spare.

P.S. You wouldn't be interested in putting a gun turret on an S-boat, would you Mr. Webster? (got a thread in the mods workshop & my fingers crossed):D

well i know 9 kts is best for the fleet boats but what about the smaller older and less powerfull s-boats?

are you sure they are the same? because i wouldnt think they would be
