I prefer the look of the original design, but really, I don't think the Slim looks all that bad. I'd buy one.

I hate the look of the new slim too.

Glad I got a fat one.............. PS3 I mean.:D

Just a pity I couldn't afford one at release. Stuck with the watered down model with 2 USB ports, no BC, and no card slots. I can live with that though.

Just hanging out for GT5.......... are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?

Consoles will never die out. And if they did gaming would become unpopular again.

And I do agree the non slim ps3 looks better. Especially with that shiny finish it has on it. Its just a pain keeping it fingerprint free.

Dunno wtf you guys are talking about. They both look plain to me.

Neither can play silent hunter 1, 2, 3, 4 or the upcoming 5.

Makes em both useful only in paperweight mode.

I can think of less expensive and useless ways of trying to prove that "form over function" is true (which it isn't - as demonstrated by my first sentence of this post).

Ignorance is bliss isn't it?

The PS3 supports an additional OS, in this case linux.

So PS3 + Linux + Wine + SH1, SH2 & SH3 = Your logic fails.

As for SH4, don't care it's a POS.
Jurys out on 5.

It seems that the age old arguments in PC vs Console are becoming a little blurred at the edges.

PS3 Slim can't do Linux anymore. :O: ;)

Are there any known occasions of SH3 actually running on Linux PS3? I honestly doubt it. :hmmm:

I have a Ps3 and play silent hunter.

danlisa 09-01-09 01:39 PM

I have a PS3 and play the SH Series. *Sounds like an AA meet*:88)

Slim PS3 is crap. Which is why I have the VIP edition 60GB model which does eveything. FYI SH3 does run on the PS3 through Linux, although GWX won't.

Arclight 09-01-09 01:50 PM

Seriously?! I didn't think that was possible. :o

Sure, it runs Linux, but I would have expected some kind of obscure hardware conflict.

I'm not easily amazed, but this one knocks my socks off. My apologies for even questioning it. :salute:

VIP edition?

I have a 40gb standard edition which I installed a 260gig hard drive into.
