Looks great, except I can't get the scope work with stock version of the game.
Here is what I'm getting: GERMAN Day http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...g?t=1249944271 Night http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...g?t=1249944291 US Day http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...g?t=1249944303 Night http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...g?t=1249944317 Stock SHIV with UBM installed plus some minor mods... Would be absolutely great if you could release version just for stock. :salute: |
If your talking about cross hairs not being green, same here, thanks for the hard work.
Regards, Rich |
Yep, talking about greenish (night) hue for US and brown (day) for GER and there's weird blue stripe on the top of the screen for GER day.
Also, the graphics outside the scope does not change to red during the night. I wonder what is causing this? |
Vanjast - I understand what your trying to tell me about the menu_1024 file, but like I said, I'm only a hack modder that can only manipulate dds files. If there is anyone out there that wants to make a mod that adds the observation scope view into the stock/GFO versions and add my mods with it, be my guest.
Conus and rsvette - if you look at the screen shots in the first post you'll notice the day/night backgrounds are different, thats because your standing behind a different scope, (attack/opservation). Again, because the stock version only uses 1 periscope mask, (TMO-RFB-FOTRS versions use 2 different scope masks) your only seeing the same scope mask with different lighting, (day/night) no matter what scope you use. Sorry. Conus - regarding the stripe at the top of the screen. I admit I cut the Uboat masks a little short. You got your resolution cranked so high, your viewing area extends past the edge of the mask. Try reducing your resolution a bit, and that should do the trick. |
Panning Background
This is a fantastic mod and I can't imagine not having it now. Spectacular idea and implimentation.
I was wondering though..... Would it be possible (I don't even know if it is)... to have the background pan around as the periscope is panning around? If you are at 0 degrees everything is perfect; the background around the periscope makes sense for looking directly ahead. But.. as the periscope pans left/right; the background remains exactly the same. It's probably one of those things that would be insane to try and fix; but I don't know; is it even possible? I can't belive I've played this game for so long and still find myself holding my breath and forgetting to blink. (laugh) Again; Fantastic job on this mod, brilliant ! |
Still running version 1.4, FOTRS
Will it work ?
|
Again, thanks for the kind words regarding this mod :DL. I thought I should give a little history lesson about it's origins, because the original idea is not mine . I stumbled across a mod called New_periscope by Kapt Klaus uploaded back in July of 2007. What I didn't like, it was only for the attack scope, and nothing for the night (observation) scope :damn:. Then I started using the green filter (from ArcLight's OPCF mod) for night attacks with the observation scope. I emailed Kapt Klaus to see if he could incorporate the green filtered night scope with the same background only with a red tint for "darken ship" :arrgh!:. He replied and said he was not modding for SH4 anymore because he was working/playing on another game. Although I have seen some recent posts from him, Welcome back Kapt Klaus. So with allot of trial and error, I was able to recreate it myself. Basically, all I did was take a screen shot standing in front of the periscope in the conning tower, then cut a hole out the same size as the periscope optic, then paste the two together :smug:.
McHub - I would love to have that myself, (that was also brought up in the "New Periscope" mod topic), except your talkin to the wrong guy. That would involve 3d modeling, and that's all a mystery to me :hmmm:. Maybe one of the modder elite dudes will pick up on this and inspire them to try it. Mr. donut - As far as I know, it should work with FORTS 1.4. This mod is only 2 files. Just make sure the file names and paths are the same:salute:. |
