I've been thinking about what you've said about compressed air. I've noticed that sometimes when you surface you spend a bit of air (which is realistic I suppose), and sometimes you don't. This led me to a conclusion that the instrument does not show the whole amount of air, i.e. that there is more than it is shown.
So, when the air supply is full, the scale won't show when it drops, until it drops enough to reach the range of the instrument. I hope this make any sense :hmmm:? Anyone noticed that? I don't have malfunctions turned on in commander. Quote:
Take care, mate! :up: Quote:

At the moment I am playing (alt+tab) and writing here. And right now with a new Commander and new U-Boat VIIC in July 1940. I have compressed air problems AGAIN! I never had this when malfunctions + sabotage was unchecked. BTW It makes no sense that there is more compressed air then it shows? :damn: |

But, you can do an experiment. Make sure you have your compressed air supply full. Perform several consecutive dive and surface maneuvers, without any pause between them (i.e. go to periscope depth, surface, go to periscope depth, surface...). Monitor the amount of compressed air. First few times you surface, the amount stays the same. After that, it drops each time you surface. :hmmm: I don't know how to explain this, order than the scale doesn't show full air supply. |

On the other hand, there are times when I am submerged and nothing is happening? Only CO2 is getting low and of course the batteries. This is a real mystery for me! http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/sherlock.gif Maybe because I use the OLC "Gold" MkII mod, and/or use the malfunction and sabotage in SH3 Commander together. Maybe someone else on this forum kows the reason? BTW When I crash dive it's the same ... I tried it in NYGM, almost all compressed air was gone! Bed time now ... 3.18 AM here in Holland. |
In RL, vessels have at least two storage tanks for compressed air.....the main storage and a secondary tank.
When compressed air is called upon to perform a task, the air is drawn from the main storage, which is compensated from the secondary as it is being used/drawn. Only when the main storage is empty would the guage drop, it would then rise again as the compressor feeds the secondary which in turn replenishes the main tank. That is how it worked in RL and is replicated in game. This is my understanding anyway. |
@Rafael
I don't know mate, maybe it's because of the malfunctions in SH3Commander. Hope someone will give you a better answer. @jimbuna It does make sense. :yep: |
A new image:
I submerged at approx. 00.11 hours and surfaced approx. 9 hours later and the result is no problems with compressed air now? Battery is below 50%, still enough C02. Compressed air 100%! Mystery or not? :hmmm: |
Rafael,
it seems to me that you think that compressed air is for breathing, but it is for surfacing the boat (especially if the engines are in "all stop"). |

I suppose it has to do with SH3 Commander and my malfunctions in combination with sabotage. However I am unable to test it at the moment. I have to start a new patrol and disable this function in SH3 Commander. Anyway thanks for thinking with me!:salute: |
