We will see August. Gladiator had it all IMO. Just one well made movie and the masters when it came to the musical score. All aspects of an A++ movie was there IMO. :yeah:

Listen to Holst's "The Planets" and then the Gladiator score. You'll see that Hans Zimmer (to put it politely) was very "inspired" by Holst.

Still great music though.

Aye, Gladiator is an great movie. Tho, IMHO, the music wasnt 'great', I mean, it was the standard quality from H.Z., but it wasnt anything really rememberable like for example the shower scene music from The Rock. :hmmm: Now that was something that was just perfect for the scene.

I did not know he wrote some for The Rock. Sometimes a piece of music moves one were for another it does not. The Gladiator sound track is just moving to me. If the music conveys what the feeling is in a particular seen the it has done it's job. Such as the show scene here, it conveys suspense and action. It has done it's job. Imagine the scene without the music. Not much fun. Imagine the scene after Crowe's character dies in the movie Gladiator were he is walking through the field of wheat. Without that piece of music the scene is just not as gripping and sorrowful. Without a doubt, if Commander comes with a top notch sound track then it should be a very good movie.

Do you accept a biased opinion based on the fact that in my ultimate wisdom I've decided that a movie featuring Russel Crowe simply cannot be bad? :D

AVGWarhawk 08-04-09 08:30 AM

Well, I tend to agree with you. Hands down, Gladiator made me a Crowe fan. He was just that good for that part. My all time favorite movie. The only problem with that is when I see Crowe in something else I fully expect to see a broad sword come flying out decapitating a lesser slave in the arena! So yeah, bias is cool with me :03:

Dowly 08-04-09 08:33 AM

Haha, ok. I'll get back to you when I'm done with it.

Dowly 08-04-09 09:16 AM

Righto, it was goooood. Check the Ebert review thingy, I felt the same about it. :yeah:

AVGWarhawk 08-04-09 09:25 AM

Ok, will order through SS Amazon. :03:

EDIT: Done deal!
