Anyone who thinks climate change is not taking place is not aquainted with the sicence of it, I am not talking about what Al Gore or other such *****s say, nor am i refering to what the gas companies are saying, look at what actual climatologists are saying.

Greenland didn't get it's name because some Viking thought it would be a selling point to potential immigrants.

"Collaps", that sociological-ecological examination of the ecocide of various old cultures by Jared Diamond that I linked above, is such an enlightening read, so I remind you of it again. And that critic in the overview which I picked to quote, also is so damn right that i also remind of the words:
"Diamond’s distinction between social and biological survival is a critical one, because too often we blur the two, or assume that biological survival is contingent on the strength of our civilizational values... The fact is, though, that we can be law-abiding and peace-loving and tolerant and inventive and committed to freedom and true to our own values and still behave in ways that are biologically suicidal. " It was a thick 600 pages reading that I just finished earlier this month, but it was extremely well-written and well-founded, and a joy to read. I am now going into his Pulitzer-winning "Guns, Germs, and Steel", which also won an Aventis Award of the Royal Society for the best science book. |

Make a 300HP gas guzzler that costs 20,000 to make and sells for 30,000 or make an econo box which costs 12,000 to make and sells for 30,000. |

Not easy because it doesn't work if the rest of the world thinks you are insane and that your predictions of the future are based on lies.;)
Why would other countries without a heavy car industry follow us (or even lead ahead) then. What has for example Finland to gain by doing it? More expensive cars can't be their main goal, can it. |

Yes, there is fluctuation withing climate, but it is not quite as clar cut as that. The rate of recent warming has been unprecedented in Earths climate history, as far as we are aware of anyway. To say that humans are having no effect on that is to hide ones head in the sand, hell, humans affected large scale changes in the ecosystem surrounding them way before industrialisation, it is just that now the changes are occuring on a grander scale and taking action against that now could be benefitial in the long run. Ofcourse, I am not saying things are as bad as al gore and other nutcases make it out to be, but it isnt nonexistant and not affected by us, like the oil companies would have you belive, either.
The truth is somewhere in the middle, as it is with all things that get draged into politics. Anyhow, there is a nice youtube series which explains things a bit better than anyone would bother to read if i were to look up all the sources and made a wall of text post with the information, but who knows, I might actualy go through with it. Do not take this as fact, be sceptical about everything you hear and feel free to check the sources mentioned in the videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0Jsd...=TL&playnext=1 |
