Sorry to hear that man, but I must say, I'm blown away by the age! That is friggen awesome to have a cat that can live that long! Probably not the right words you want to hear right now above, but I must also say that it must have been one happy cat with a stress free life to live so long!

Wow, that's harsh. You have my deepest sympathies, SW. If there's anything worse than having a treasured animal companion die, it is seeing it paralyzed, blinded, or otherwise suffering before it goes.
It may not mean much, but I think that all animals die with pure souls, and that they are bound for a better place. How can a God that forgave mankind of all sins through the sacrifice of His only Son hold animals without true sentience accountable for their actions or inaction, as the case may be? I pray that your pain might be dulled, and that Screech will find peace in the hereafter until she finds joy when she meets you again. |
Screech, a unique name, I like it
I've lost two feline brothers over the past three years, the last of whom really fought, right to the end, but his body failed his spirit. SW, there are no words that can take away the pain, the gap that Screech will leave, but take strength in the knowledge of the years (a good many years at that) that Screech has never gone hungry or thirsty or not known that she was loved. You were there for her as much as she was there for you, and in this final moments, you are there for her when she needs you the most. Our thoughts are with you. Oberon, Isis, Nikita, Mishka and Tiggers |
Thank you all for your kind words.
Screech left us at 9:05 am this morning. She fought a little but really would have no quality of life without being able to walk . A quick injection and moments later she was gone. I dont think she suffered really and we buried her this morning. Bye Bye dear friend. This is not Screech but looks just like her and she did the same exact thing. Reminded me of her alot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITNGS...layer_embedded |
Rest in peace, Screech.

Ah that's too bad
Any cat that's that old is blessed with a happy home :) |
After reading this thread last night I gave both of our cats a good petting. Sorry for your loss SW.

Hang in there SW. :(

Oh I am so sorry. She lived a long life though, and I'm sure she was taken good care of, all the way to the end.
I know it's only a matter of years and I will lose two of my family members too. Sune and Zeke, 14 years old this fall, and we've had them since they were just about the age when you can buy them. They're 14 years, and I'm 18. So you can imagine how much they've meant for me while growing up. I don't know how I'll be able to cope with their eventual death... Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. |
Well, loosing a dear pet is difficult, I guess. I have never had the option. I have always only had aquarium fish - less attachment. Though one of my fish is about 13 years old, I'm not really attached to it. It's one of those fish cleaning the plants, roots and windows. It's ugly and a bit hostile as in preserving its territorium. It would be strange though the day it's gone, and I would have to get a new one...
But sorry to heat about the loss. At least, your cat was fortunate enough to live within a family talking care of and loving, and that during a long life. 20 years, that's pretty long or? I don't know how you count cat years. Dog years are usually set to 7 human years, so how about cats? |
My wife corrected me she was actually around 22 years old. Which according to the cat year calculator made her 105 :o

World record is, if I'm not mistaken, 34 years. 20 is mostly the limit though. That was the age of my grandma's old cat before she died. Outlived grandpa, although he'd probably be glad to hear that, he loved that cat...

Yea... Ive got a old dog. (beagle) about 10 years old... (how old do they get anyway. lol)
a 9 year old cat... one cat at age 7... anouther one thats 3 years old... |
Aw, sorry to hear that  Losing pets really sucks. I've lost several dogs (some were as young as a couple months old) and cats and two Mexican Walking Fish/Axolotls. I know how it feels.
I still have my two cats. Had 'em since they were kittens. They're nearing 20 years of age but still can be pretty funny. Lost track of age but I think they're around 17 years (80 years on the cat calendar). And still got my black Axolotl who remained alive, I've finally got his environment right. At least Screech lived a good long life :salute: |
