Well, I've always thought of the UK as the 51st state ;)

Imagine if you will.

1945

Roosevelt Dies in office, Harry S. Truman replaces him as President of the United States.

What if Truman's first order of business is to go on an ass kissing campaign in Japan?

what would the reaction of the average Joe American have been back then?

just think about it is all i ask.

Enigma 06-05-09 04:44 PM

And while your thinking about this "ass kissing tour", as if that were not childish and simplistic enough, think about how the people upset with Obama for trying to gain ground in the Muslim world through diplomacy and conversation were all for reform in Iraq via military action.

GoldenRivet 06-05-09 05:01 PM

im for cutting all ties to the middle east period. no good relations, no bad relations... just no relations.

to hell with them

The two are not analogous.

The problem with Mr. O's apologies is they are the same thing Bush and company said. 'We are not at war with Islam'. We are at war with people who use Islam as the basis for their war on us. And its not just the US, these folks who want the rise of a caliphate are causing trouble world wide.

2009.06.03IndiaShopian10A teenaged girl is shot to death inside her home by Islamic terrorists.

2009.06.03PhilippinesMaguindanao24A woman is among two people killed in a Moro Islamist bomb blast.

2009.05.16ChechnyaGrozny45Four people are killed by a Shahid suicide bomber.

2009.04.12IranShiraz14160The Sunni Jihadi Movement bombs a Shia prayer gathering, killing fourteen people.

2009.04.14Pal. Auth.Gaza10A 28-year-old woman is murdered by her family in an honor killing.

The list goes on and on. Europe has had its share of violence aswell.

Apologies? Hog wash. Pure fiction.

He did not apologize for America's actions after 9/11.

He did not give sympathy, or look for excuses for the attacks on our soil, based on our previous policies before 9/11.

Quote:

"We did not go by choice, we went because of necessity. I am aware that some question or justify the events of 9/11. But let us be clear: al-Qaida killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women and children from America and many other nations who had done nothing to harm anybody. And yet al-Qaida chose to ruthlessly murder these people, claimed credit for the attack, and even now states their determination to kill on a massive scale. They have affiliates in many countries and are trying to expand their reach. These are not opinions to be debated; these are facts ... "
The man specifically raised 9/11 to justify America's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Which you boys have been screaming about for 8 years until it's said by a Democrat.

He went on to say Iraqis were better off without Saddam Hussein.

He described our presence in Iraq as being for the purpose of supplying Iraq and Iraqis with freedom.

He told them, in this Muslim capital, that bond between Israel and the United States is "unbreakable."

You really can't have it both ways kids. I mean, you can, but after a while you just look like your obsessed with disliking liberals and democrats, and any indication of progress or even the attempt thereof, in the Muslim world. You may not like Obama's policy's on a whole, but if you have a problem with what he is doing in the Middle East on this tour, and with what he said in that speech, you don't dislike his idea's, for they were perfectly acceptable to you 6 months ago. You dislike his political stripe. Too bad.

sure it is.

If the Arabs are not our enemies - i dont know what to call them... there are probably more Arab terrorist than that of virtually any other nation.

there will never be peace in the middle east - it is the anal wart of the world and its people covet a twisted and perverse religion.

in America - i am entitled to my opinion - no matter how backwoods or redneck or wrong you might think it is - but those people are slime.

as far as im concerned they can keep the beloved fuhrer - he has more in common with them than us.

Enigma 06-05-09 08:16 PM

Who is "us", and what are the things Obama has in common with Muslims, (or did you mean terrorists? or are they one and the same thing?) that he doesn't have in common with us?

Know what, don't bother answering. The very premise is absurd, and laughable.

you're right... arguing with you is laughable.

I don't dislike you Enigma - really - i like to think of Subsim as a fraternity - sort of a brotherhood... perhaps im a fool for thinking so but thats how i look at it, i dont feel like i have anything but friends here.

we are allowed to disagree though.

and here is the point where you and I face different directions.

I dont dislike Obama - i just happen to disagree with 9 out of 10 of his actions and policies.

we need leadership HERE

My goodness Enigma. I can't believe the "change" that has been brought to us. It's very apparent to alot of people that Obama is at best a naive idealist in how he has approached the so called "Muslim" world. It was an absolute grovel fest. A disgrace. It was an embarassing display of "moral equivalence" in terms of Palestinians and Israelis. I don't know how any Jewish group in America could ever vote for him due to his disgusting equivalence regarding the holocaust.

This is, from what I see, looking to be the worst presidential administration in history. At least it looks like that's what he's shooting for.

P.S. And yes, GR.....he is steering us towards socialist policy. How anybody couldn't see that, it would have to be blind worship.
