pffff...:shifty: You know how many times I hear that word a day at school... But if the dogs name was cracker, or honkey, or a derogatory name to anouther race. It would be no big deal right. But when the word ****** gets brought up even as a historicaly accurate name it has to be changed. Like Dowly said above, there are plenty of movies that have the word ****** in them.

Why is it that the N word is sutch a big thing when it is said. but when a statement like honkey is brought up. nothing happens. In my opinion it is a load of bull s***. Would we be seeing this if the dogs name was cracker and the owner was black?

Just because people say N.A.A.C.P. all the time does not make it acceptable. It implies that people with colored skin need a national effort to "advance" them (perhaps because of their skin color:nope:). I think it is insulting and degrading. Furthermore, the "advancements" they champion typically do not include benefits for "white" people, implying that white is not a color. While that is technically true, it is important to raise public awareness of the fact that "white" people are often more of a peach or beige color, but come in as many different tones as you can imagine. Simply calling them all white is a harmful stereotype. I prefer the term "Could-damn-well-be-from-anywhere-Americans".

Instead of using the N word, consider using the term N.A.P.E.R.R.S.C.N.T.S.C.R.M.O.A., short for National Association for Promotion of Equal Rights Regardless of Skin Color, Not That Skin Color Really Matters Or Anything. It is a much more sensitive term, and everyone can use it without showing disrespect to others. Thanks:up:

I'm not sure what to think. Yes, it's probably a marketing ploy, and a good one.

On the one hand there should be respect to historical accuracy. Racism existed, dammit. People said all kinds of rude things. I fear that one day there will be 'slavery denial' or something because words etc. that remind of that time have been eradicated.

On the other hand there is no reason to promote racism in the here and now. Movies of this type, even if they aspire some kind of historical accuracy, are usually just stupid, retroesque romps with action and things going boom. Movies like this aren't really meant to teach people about history as much as entertain the popcorn-zombies.

If one hate crime can be prevented by not using the N-word in this movie, I say don't use it.

The NAACP is a prime example of "acceptable racism". Such organizations and Affirmative Action, are largely responsible for race still being an issue in America. People still look at and categorize people by race, gender, etc., but the government and such organizations TELL them to.

The whole brouhaha is great publicity to get the movie's name out there without paying a dime for the advertisement. I never knew Peter Jackson was making a remake of it.

From what I know less and less rappers put it on their records anymore. Sure you'll find it on older records but not so much on newer ones.
