It's an Easter Egg?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: |
oooo... easter egg...:o it looks nothing like a chicken embryo.
And its not even easter yet.:rotfl: |
I think its a marker that the game uses to recognize the center of the ship. Probably used when you lock on the periscope to the target. Why its off to the side of the ship is wierd. You must have hit the ship dead center with your torp.
I prefer the bermuda triangle theory, or the free masons one. Somethings are better left unexplained:D |
It was a bit in front of the ship.
Although i had it locked amidships. And no, i had no heretics nor i was near bermuda! I had a couple of plants to my ship however but who gives a damn. :haha: |
Here is the triangle targeting recticle thingamabob that appears thru bino when crew is auto firing deck gun. Chances are once the ship is considered lost but before it actually sinks. For a breif second this recticle become unassigned to the ship.
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2/triangle.jpg Next mystery please. |
Actually, thats thru the UZO since there is a degree meter on top.
Xcept if you're using a mod or something. Anyway, this doesnt explain why the 2D triangle became a live 3D one and in front of the ship where there's nothing to target... Besides that, i didnt fired a single shot with the deck gun cause the enemy ship had one too. I fired a torp. Looks like the mystery's alive and kickin' mate. :O: |
Nah the mystery is solved. Its the targeting recticle. The game uses it in more than 1 way. That pic is through the binoculars. If I knew what file in game the recticle is located. The triangle could be replaced with a circle or whatever. Its probably hard coded though.

It's tempting to think it is some sort of 3d version of the targeting triangle. My question is did you fire on his port side or starboard side? Because it wouldn't make sense if you fired on his port side and the 3d piramid is on the far (starboard) side, somewhat distanced from it.
Another thing I recently learned from the Academy Torpedo mission video is (when on auto targeting) the triangle would invert (be upside down) depending on the level line of the periscope being under or above the waterline. Or maybe it's the objects center, since the water is sometimes slightly above the line. Or it might be just a wave swell. This might explain why it hasn't been noticed before if everybody has his scope down. The 3d piramid would be below the surface and not shown from above. So, Lt.Fillipidis, how did you have your periscope at the time? [Edit] and there should appear a red piramid aswel on occasion. |
Im not that good with the sides but if im right, port side is the left side of the ship. Yes, i was attacking submerged, from the port side. The triangle itself
has exactly at the center of the ship. The angle i got the picture makes it look like that there's starboard side. As you can see in the picture, the sea is a bit choppy and i dont use stabilized view, so my periscope must look below the waterline. Its correct that its yellow, because there was some certain angle between my shot and the ship. The torpedo didnt run straight to the ship. And something i didnt mentioned before. As i turned the camera around it, the left i was turning, the brighter yellow it became and the right i was turning, it became a bit purplish. I didnt thought to make a complete turn to see its full colors though... :-? Edit: I tried a couple of times to do exactly as i did that moment but i failed. Ill try again though. |
