*sigh*............................Iwas hopping you wouldnt turn up...........

the whermact had rockets that silently launched and stuck to the target, usually a oil tank, and blew up at a certain time.

i wasnt firing at the patrol boats, i was firing at the water to see what they would do.

anyone have timetravelors minitweaker? it seems to have dissapeared..........

I don't have the slightest clue about why you dislike me so much.

Can you please back up your statement about silent and non-flash rockets? We don't even have that technology today.

magicsub2 01-29-09 01:40 AM

lol i read it in a book, forgot what is called, and i dont dislike you its just that you have a hostile attitude to me.

Maybe you talking about ballistic rockets? :hmm:
Wich are started by a short burst of their rocket engines and then going down "silent" on their flightpath? (Maybe fired by the "Nebelwerfer"?)

I can't believe that the germans had "silent" rockets, the rocket engine technology was a new development in WW2. I think these rockets were really loud and noisy, with a big flash of the exhaust gases.

But really silent rockets? This sounds like sience fiction to me, like these "Nazi UFO's from the southpole" storys... :nope:

Every reliable source only mentions the U-511.
And that was only proof of the concept.

The next step was the building of a delivery system for the V-2
by U-Boats.

Of which one unit was completed but never tested.
There were uncompleted units in process at Wars end.

Which tells me that delivery of the V-2 to American shores
took priority over deck launched missles.

Infact, because of the U-511 tests and information
about the possible V-2 delivery system?
The U.S. launched a very deliberate offensive
against U-Boats off the East coast believeing those were
inbound!

i have another idea, how about a super powerful rocket, a v2 moded it? and it would be real powerful and it could be possible to include a fireball when it explodes. one launch only though. it would need to be one hell of a powerful rocket.

magicsub2 01-30-09 12:04 AM

and i was talking about a launcher that silently launches rockets. it was in a sven hassle book lol:haha:

Sorry, but I see no reason why. The V-2 rocket was designed to be fired at land targets like citys or military bases. As privateer wrote: It was a DELIVERY system, not a mobile Sea to Surface launching platform. I think, the plan was to deliver the V-2 rockets to secret bases wich were in range to the US shore.

Even if the germans had tried to fire a V-2 from a U-Boat, I think this would be too dangerous for boat and crew. The exhaust gases might burn a hole in the boat and if something goes wrong there would be nothing left of the boat then a giant explosion and some flying pieces...

Furthermore, a german WW2 submarine wasn't a stable firing platform, as you can see when shooting with your deck gun. Even at calm seas, a tiny wave could cause a deviation because it's accumulating with the range of the rocket.

And, at last: Firing a V-2 at everything smaller than a battleship (because of the SH3 limitation to sea and air targets) would just be overkill...

I don't want to be a party-pooper (is this term right?), but this seems to me a bigger "what if" then the "XXIII at 1939" mod...

EDIT: I've just checked "Sven Hassel" on Wikipedia. I don't think it's a reliable source of information... Seems more fiction than fact to me.

magicsub2 01-30-09 05:20 PM

yeah your right about the v2s, ill just stick to the original idea.

please does anyone have a link to timetravellors minitweaker?
