I am rather curious though as to whether or not this matter relates to certain graphics cards. I've never experienced the "flat sun."

Any thoughts, mate?:hmm:

It relates to both graphics cards and graphics settings (e.g. AA/AF) and even graphics drivers (I get a flat sun with some ATI drivers but not with others). Go figure.

In my case I had updated Nvidia drivers for my GF6600 card but that did not solved the problem. And if I knew what settings to change in AA/AF I would. But I guess it depends on every other graphic card so it's hard to say. So more simple way is to use a fix..

I'm owner of Asus ATI Radeon X1950Pro card, use Asus drivers and I have flat sun problem. I've tried to resolve it using other drivers from Asus or change AA/AF settings, but with no succes. It's very frustrating :damn:

I'd like to have darker water from OLCE2 with polygon fix from GWX 3.0 - it would be perfect, but if I understand you correctly, OLC, this polygon fix makes water lighter - am I right? It's hard to choose, darker water or less polygons :hmm:

Exactly.

Is there any way to make 'GWX3 16km atmosphere' water a bit darker?

Jaxa make a screenshot of your ocean and post it here :)

No need. KL just emailed me the GWX3 env files, and I did indeed make a mistake on the flat sun fix. A new one will be uploaded shortly.

strange, haven't noticed it :\ Will have another look now.

FIXED VERSION POSTED. See post 1 for link.

I was right, now it looks perfect, exactly as should be and I wanted
Many thanks OLC :D

Ok I did some testings in naval academy (convoy attack map) and found out the difference between old and new sun fix what is related to the ocean color..

In the first picture there is a view 90 degrees angle straight at the water with the old fix:

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/115/oldfixoi0.th.png

In the second there's a new fix with the same view point:

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9...dnewuf7.th.png

So ocean color in old fix was brighter when you look at it to horizon and darker when you look straight down to it.
And in the new fix is just the reverse effect (looking at the horizon ocean looks darker, straigh down brighter.)
Is it possible to make the ocean look darker the same way everywhere as it is in thenew fix ?

Disable my flat sun fix and you'll see the exact same thing in the GWX3 16km Atmosphere as you see in the (new) flat sun fix. I am aware of the problem but you'll never see it from anywhere except the external camera (which realism players don't use). When I mentioned the problem to KL before release he said he found it preferable to the polygon problem and decided to go with that version of the environment for release.

If you make the water dark when looking down you basically have OLCE2 i.e. you re-introduce the polygon problem.

Ah, roger that!

hi olc,

i discovered the same as "Dani" did with the gwx3-16km-atmosphere. you obviously did not read his post, so i try it here:

at very dark nights the hands of the bridge crew are too bright and the faces are too dark. for comparison i installed your olce v2.4.3 and it looks better.

is there a chance for a fix? only for fun i tried "adjusted crew skin" fix of olce 243 on top of gwx3-16km and it looks better......

thanks and happy new year to all people here!

Er, you just answered your own question. Sounds like the GWX guys decided not to include the adjusted crew skins from OLCE2. So, just add them yourself.
